2010 TSX won't shift into 4th in S mode
Hey all, I'm new here and this is my first post. Just bought a certified 2010 TSX tech a couple weeks ago with 35k on it. Haven't really noticed any issues until today.
D mode works fine, with the only exception being a POSSIBLE delayed shift from 3rd to 4th. I highlight "possible" because I tend to be paranoid about my cars. I was getting on the highway today, and decided to punch it a bit after slipping it into S mode. It shifted fine through the first 3 gears, but would NOT shift into fourth automatically. I pushed it up to 5500 rpms and still no dice. It would shift into fourth once I used the paddle shifter to do so, however. Last week it would shift just fine into fourth in sport, so I'm perplexed.
Now, I live in the Chicago suburbs, and it's been a frozen hell the last couple week. Hasn't been above freezing in over a week. Not sure if that could be related. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So this is an issue for you as well? I know S mode only uses gears 1-4, as stated in the manual, but I feel like going 80mph and doing almost 6000 rpms should be more than enough to trigger an upshift...
Thanks for the replies, guys. I ran across an older thread related to this after about an hour of searching, and people there were saying the same thing too. Pretty relieved....I'm going to go dunk my head in some ice water for a while until I stop being paranoid...lol I really should just enjoy my shiny new purchase.

Yeah I got up to 80, and didn't want to sustain the Rome at 5500-6000 for that long to find out. My previous cars were an '05 lancer es and a '93 civic, so you can understand my hesitation to floor this thing. If I did that with my older cars the trans would've fallen out...Haha. someone try to see if 4th is possible, though....
Other thing about automatic shifting is that the box is behave differently in depence how much you are flooring the gas pedal. If you are a half way, then it might shift sooner than in you are on the floor.
And finaly, the box seems to behave differently from S mode and S+manual mode. To be honest I have the car for three years, and I did not figure out the whole AT program yet.
If we just open this topic, the most bothering thing for me is that the car won't downshift with paddle when I want to. It seems that it won't downshift above 4000 rpm. I have beeen tracking the car and it is just a paddle-party, you are hitting it and nothing happens, then it finally goes down when you are not expecting that
Or goes from the M mode automatically so you don't know in what gear you are, sometimes it shifts up automaticaly sometimes not...
It is OK, the limiter is about 7100 so no reason to not go further than 6000.
