2010 Check Emission Warning after fast turn

I was travelling about 60 miles on an on ramp, when the CHECK EMISSIONS warning came on, on the dash board.

The car then would not respond to the accellerator / gas pedel and started feeling weird, like it was 'choking', while I was merging with traffic. I had to turn the engine off, put the car in neutral (manual car) and then restart the car. The car restarted and I merged with the freeway traffic and took the next off-ramp to parking in a parking lot. The car responded normally after restarting, but the CHECK EMISSION light is still on.

Have 2 questions, if anyone can help:

1) HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE BEFORE?

2) ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON A FAST ONRAMP / FAST TURN?

THE CAR IS A 2010 MANUAL TSX 4CYL AND HAS 4000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

the check engine light?

take the car to an auto parts store and have the code read.
they can tell you what is going on.

then post the code and the description here.

I bet that it's water in the gas tank or something...

I got the check emissions light for my fuel tank lid not being closed all the way on a rainy day and some water got in.

It can be a number of issues, there may well be water in the tank, Oxygen sensor error, PCV valve, knock senor or EGR failure.

Your car has a 4yr/80,000 km warranty (includes all emission controls). Take it to the dealer and get it fix.

I've had the check oil light come on when making fast turns. I guess this car is prone to having lights come on when fast turns are made.

If the car wouldn't respond to the accelerator, that sounds like a bad mass airflow sensor (my Mazda did this once). I'd have it checked, especially if it's covered.

at this point, all of you are speculating.

he needs to get the code read from either the dealer or an auto parts store.
Once, we know the code and what the problem is, THEN we can trouble shoot.

Tighten gas cap and proceed to drive for a day and if it is still on then you can take it in.

I had the "check fuel cap" message flash at me twice. Both were during fast turns.

Government conspiracy...

that would get rid of the code.....but if the problem still persist, the check engine light will come back on.

he needs to go to the dealer or an auto parts store to get the code read.

without a code it is all just guesswork.

other topic - oil light what, in a fast turn. What was the problem there?

Idiot lights are aptly named and come in 3 distinct colors:
green = informational
yellow = caution/warning
red = critical

If i get a red light when driving I pull over, shut the engine off immediately.

Regardless, without a code with a check engine light, there is NO way to know what it is.

Not amazing at all considering the idiots that comprise the vast majority of the motoring public today. And..... assuming the comment is directed toward teaching "their kids" about driving a car, then they're getting what they're paying for.

I should have a copy of the codes read by the dealer. I will try to upload the sheet they gave me after I had it serviced at the dealer.

In summary, the CSR at the dealer said that I just need to keep checking the oil level and if the level drops to add oil. OIL IS BURNING!!! Is this happening in any of your cars????

My independent mechanic said something is wrong with my engine and it should not be burning oil at this rate for a new car. Also there is too much shoot on my exhaust he said.

I will also upload a video to youtube that you guys can watch to see. I appreciate any input

Videos:

They don't explain it. They just tell me to check the oil levels every week.

I'd call Acura care and email them your videos.

I did email them my videos to the dealership and they are not giving me a firm answer. I'm planning on writing to the head office in the near future.

I was driving my GF's 2010 TSX 6sp today and had this EXACT same thing happen. I was going 35 down an arterial (no crazy turns or anything) when it happened, the only difference was with the 6sp it wouldn't let me shift past 2nd gear.

Did you ever resolve the issue with Acura? I had it towed to the dealer this afternoon so I'm calling them in the morning.

sounds like some kind of limp mode; something told the computer that normal driving will HURT the vehicle so only allow it to limp home.

by reading codes dealer should be able to solve it. it gets ugly when they give you the wall job for 3 days then say they cant duplicate it.

let us know/

My old honda did this. (would not accelerate past 3k and had warning light). Ending up being a problem with the vtec and it was forcing it into limp mode.
