I don't think its the latch now that I think about it. The handle pulls a cable that releases the latch. It doesn't take much to move that little plastic hook on the actual latch. I looked at the loaner that I have and it is the exact same as my car...the way it locks and the unlocks. I think it has to do something with the way the handle pulls on the cable that unlocks the latch. The handle and the most of the internal workings of the door are plastic...maybe the heat distorts it a little....or enought to make it hang up.

I do notice that the loaner I have has more tension on the handle when you pull it then my car does....who knows. Its all theory at this point....I just want my $30K+ luxury car to have doors that open nice.

Interesting.

There is a metal rod (not a cable) that connects the outside handle to the latch.
It will be interesting to see what your dealer did to your car, and whether it solved the problem.

Please post back an update.

Good luck, I too want my 30K+ car's doors to be operating like they should!!

I've had a 2010 RDX loaner (my 2010 TSX V6 TECH has been in shop for 25+ days for sunroof leak) for two weeks and it has the same problem. I'm having problems opening the driver's side door. The other three handles are easier to open. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED TO THE TSX.

Wow interesting. So it's a design issue then, affecting one particular part - they must use the same part in the tsx and the rdx, and that part is behaving the same way.

Can't wait to hear from Nicky, about how his car repaired...

What surprizes me though is why this is not affecting the high volume honda products - accords, civics, etc that use the exact same parts than our cars... No?

The dealer just called and said it was the outside handle. I even asked about the latch and the internal workings and he said nope....it like butter now. I guess I'll see in a couple of hours.....

Seems to be fixed by replacing the handle. I sat out side and tried it at least 30 times in a row and it seems fixed. I did notice that on the old handle, there was that white goopy lube of some kind, now the new handle does not. You could on see the grease when the handle is pulled for reference.

Hi, The rod is what you see extending vertically from part "26" on the far right of the image. This connects to the outside handle.

Regarding the fact that it is solved by replacing the handle, this is very interesting...I can't understand the failure though, but it may make sense, as the handle being plastic, it is subject to more expansion/contraction changes than say metal, therefore affecting the operation.

Thanks for the update!

Taking my TSX in tomorrow for this very same issue. Mostly happens when its warm-hot outside. I bought it in the winter and never had a problem until it hit 80+ degrees. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to rip the handle off just trying to open it. I really hate how cheap the handles feel. And the fact the they aren't solid feeling. Being able to wiggle it around is not something I admire. Guess its one of those things I need to learn to look for when I buy a new car. GOOD DOOR HANDLES! lol!

Good news, so there is hope. Nicky, would it be possible to post the part numbers that they actually replaced? I am so upset that I will purchased them and replace them myself. Thanks in advance!

I have same issue, but both front doors are realy hard to open from outside and inside too, i greased both sides (door and loker) but no effect, because its from the mechanism made from plastics and plastic suffer in heat, increases and probably thats why we use all hand muscles...

maibe in USA you get a better service, il check today and post a feed back

meantime...

yup. droppin mine off monday for this problem. and it only happens when it gets hot out and its the first time being opened that day... or if its been sitting awhile. oh well. every car has its problems. at least these are mild for the most part (aside the tech owner issues) in comparison to others. annoying yes. but mild. except the paint. that just sucks

I also have this problem with my car. It only started once the weather got warm several months ago. When it first started happening, I would pull the handle as normal and nothing would happen, but if I try again and pull it with more force, it has always opened. The other doors don't seem to have this problem, but I have noticed front passenger door starting to get a little more difficult to open, but nothing like the driver door.

I have also recently had a 2010 RDX, 2010 TSX, and 2010 TL for loaner cars. I didn't notice the problem with the TL, but the TSX was about as bad as mine, and the RDX was less severe.
