for now theyre distracting. i still need to fiberglass over it so the screws wont be seen anymore. im going to wrap it completely around so the mounting point will be underneath the lip.

just updating my build.

18x8 +30 offset
225/40/18
5x114.3

tires are stretched. no rubbing. rims are flushed

paid $350 for rims only. just reused my old tires.

rims are curbed and has scratches so i will be sanding it down and respraying them with gunmetal and a couple layers of clear coat for a shiny look

i still need to buy acura center caps

Nice job defcon, the ET 30 makes it very flush to the wheel well. Do you need to get hubcentric ring for the rims? That's a pretty good price for 18".

Take one of your wheel off, measure the centre bore. Ours is 64.1 mm.

I would go for the metal/aluminium ones vs the cheaper plastics one which can melt after heavy braking. With correct hubcentric ring, it lessen the chance of wheel vibration as the hub will carry some the weight (as well as a tighter fit) and you are not relying upon on the studs to keep the wheel centered.

Go to ebay or here http://www.1010tires.com/hubrings.asp or http://www.motorsport-tech.com/hub_rings.html for details.

Your car looks so much better with 4 of the same rims! The G35 rims looks nice. I believe hub rings are like 20 bucks for 4.

hahaha thanks. it was just a matter of time and research.

do i ask for hub rings based on the center bore(64.1mm) or the 5x114.3 pattern?

what chain store can i get these from?

The hub centric rings are from the hub size of your wheels to the stock hub of the car 64.1. Measure the hub of your wheels, and find rings from that measurement to 64.1

Rings can be bought at most places, but i doubt people make them for a 'stock' wheel since it is hubcentric to the natural car already. Most rings are for aftermarket wheels. Doesn't hurt to try asking around. I heard JLB motorsports down at Corona sells rings.

Wow. I'm certainly not as adventurous as you but I admire your DIY attitude. This is my favorite shot of your ride.

Very nice.

1000 times better with all four of the same wheels (the G wheels look sweet).

You'll need 66.2 to 64.1mm hub rings.

As for location, try 1010tires.com, they have a great selection...I'd call to confirm they have "66.2 to 64.1" (which is basically Nissan to Honda).

And for my , the metal hub rings are prone to rust...getting the hard nylon rings will last a long time and do not rust. I use hard nylon rings on my MDX and they've worked great...looking on the 1010tires.com site, I just see "aluminum" or "plastic", but ask if they have nylon...

Alright Ill start lol. Rear end looks sexy as always. The front end is a different story. I see you've done alot of mods and though individually they might look okay, I dont think they all flow together as a whole. I dont know if you planned for your car to look like how it looks now but I think there's just too many different shapes and colors. Theres like 3 different kinds of black (grille, hood protector and lip) and it does not flow in my opinion. I say lose the carbon grille and the front lip. I know you spent alot of time working on the lip but in the end I think your car will look much cleaner without it.

i can understand what youre saying and im sure most will probably agree with you. unfortunately im not looking for a clean look. the cf vinyl wrap was done to cover up the mismatched painted grill. i tried wrapping the front lip in cf vinyl but it was just too difficult. i still plan to make this front lip in fiberglass and just paint match it sometime in the future along with the grill.

im still adding some custom side skirts next week that will compliment the front lip.

its still a work in progress.

After looking at your car some more, I think I realized what would make it look alot better - if you redid your DIY lip. I know you wanted a "lip" but if you made it loook more like a splitter instead I think it would much better. You should attach the lip to the bottom of you bumper, not in the front.......like this:

since your lip is attached to the front of your bumper, the whole rubber part is just too visible along the bottom of your bumper.I know you spent alot of time working on your lip but take this idea into consideration.

i cant do it like that because i seriously have a bunch of drilled holes. haha i tried wrapping the front lip in cf vinyl but it was too difficult with the shape. it would be better if i just fiberglassed it as one unit and paint matched it.

Nice work with 3M carbon, but, you should pay more attention to places where two pieces match together. I can see clearly on your grill where one piece ends and seccond start because you didnt even try to keep stripe in same orientation. Handles look a lot better, stripes in correct dirrection, there is only little match problem there.

I dont like front lights with shields, hood cover and 3M on lamps... sorry.

Did you uninstaled handles to work on them?

Good luck

alright defcon..after looking at this thread over and over again, heres what i think:
1. grill wraped in cf is a good idea, i like it, but i would prefer just paintmatching over the cf. a bit tooo much for me
2. blacked out chrome window trim is still nice.
3. door handle doesnt look too bad either, but again, i would probably just do color matching instead of cf. for somereason, i dont seem to see our cars wiht cf, but then again maybe someone would change my mind in the future. but if u try doing some interor with cf, that could be very interesting to see
4. sorry, still dont like the deflector
5. love your wheels.
6. still loving your wheels. only if it comes in 19, but your drop goes nicely with those 18s

and lastly...whats your next project?! !

the grill was the hardest to wrap because of the curves. it was difficult to use once whole piece. thats why i cut it up and you see different directions. but its okay though since i like the way it looks at the moment

later on when i get tired of the cf, ill just paint match it at a better body shop.

i got the shape of the eye lids off the russian CU2's.

i didnt take off the handles.

cf was my preference since it kinda goes well with the PMM colors. i will have everything paint matched sometime in the future including the grill, door handles, and front lip.

still trying to find some time to do some fiberglass work on my front lip. work on my custom side skirts. figuring out a way to tint my side mirrors. sanding down my rims and get it repainted gunmetal.

Please dont paint your rims...painted stockies are difficult to pull off. Easiest color are black and white, but other shades rarely come out exactly as expected. Your rims are one of the only mods that keep your car looking clean..if you mess those up your car will just look like a huge DIY mess. Knowing you, you'll probably just paint them anyways; but before you do, really think about your car as a whole and how a potential blunder in paint job will look in relation to the rest of your car. Painting rims is an investment of time and money that I dont think you should risk because these wheels look fine just the way they are.

you should see the rims in person. its bad.

i have to paint my rims because the original owner scratched up all 4 rims. i dont want to pay anyone to respray or resurface the rims since i know how to do it myself. im confident that i can paint my rims since ive painted my 5 spoke rims from bronze to silver and it turned out pretty good. i had to take my time spraying the rims because it would've probably turned out bad if i rushed it. just proper degreasing, sanding and 5-7 stage paint job should make it look nice.

Loved the LS tips but it went downhill fast after that. I feel that you raped your car, but hey some may say the same about mine, dents, scratches, steel wheels.. to each his own!
