I think I figured out how to fit the H11 DRL bulb into the fog light socket which is H3 size.

I have to do some cutting on the tabs to try and make it snug. I found these examples on an RX8 forum.

Any other suggestions on how to mount these plug into a different socket that doesnt have an OEM fit?

Double sided tape and welding are out of the question. I can solder it but when the bulb blows out, I can just cut it and resolder it.

car looks great dude, glad you dropped the fake vented hood thing.
good to hear you are removing the tow hooks, they looked out of place in my opinion.
Not so sure on the fogs neither, i'd have to see that in person. I want to do fogs too, but will probably end up doing the junction produce mini vulcan with 6000k HIDs.
Car looks great overall though!

Got some work done this weekend.
Did some trimming and layered it with body filler.
I still need to do more sanding and then will add 4 coats of paint.

Notice the addition to the taillights? I got the idea from the new Cameros

I still have to get used to it.

To be continued for next week

One day you remove window chrome, seccond day you add chrome to tail lights. I think you have no idea how your car should look and you just do random mods. I say yest to red lights and no to chrom addon. Fog lights for now... total dissaster. Sorry.

geez give me a break. im not even done with my fog light project yet. of course it looks like shit NOW because the housing isnt finished yet to cover up the gaps. i still have 1-2 more weeks to do some adjustments until the fog lights will look decent

i do have an idea of how my car will look like. of course i have random mods because i dont like the aero sport bumpers and oem deck spoiler. i dont want my car to look like yours. i know what im doing for originality. lets see, i have lexus parts, civic si parts, prelude parts, and m3 parts for this car.

the chrome window trim had to go because it totally clashed with the OEM window visors.

the chrome lining on the taillights are easily removable in case i dont like it. right now im just getting a FEELER for it to see if i should keep it on or not. ill give it about a month. its the same thing with the chrome grill. it takes time to get used to it. the chrome lining on the taillight is a minor mod and im just being creative.

i know all the mods im doing isn't for everyone and we all have different tastes. but i can tell you right now im just building it for originality.

the car itself is still a work in progress and i dont mind your opinion, but please reserve it when im completely done with my mini projects. the car itself is just 70% done.

projects coming up in the next 1-2 months
paint match the grill
paint/install the m3 spoiler
Audi LED strips above fog lights

future add ons
front lip or front mugen add on (preferrrably replicas)
BBS LM replica 19" rims (Linea Corsea Lemans)

I was so close to purchasing window visors, but the thing that held me back was my chrome window trim. I have to get rid of that first before I add the visors, they do clash big time.

1) either paint it yourself which will cost you $10 and time

2) or get it done at a vinyl shop which will cost you $225

3) or buy black vinyl for $50 and do it yourself

i did no. 1

The only thing I could think of for you to think of with respect to the front light additions is, (at least here in Florida,) it's illegal to have more than 4 headlights or combination of head/fog or head/driving on at one time.

You'll have 2 headlights, 4 driving lights, and 2 other 'assemblies' with the Audi LED's.

For me to add just two more driving lights to my car and drive around with them on would be what I call "hanging doughnuts."

Supa tite tips install... which the tow hook is ruining... if you want to keep it, your gonna have to come up with a smoother way to get it on there... the back end is money except for that... it breaks up the smooth line you have created with those sick tips... the wheels, devil may car.. at least they're not spinners!!! Roof spoiler is money... untint the reverse lights and put all led or super bright / white bulbs in so it will look pimp at night too!

Nice work. Like the exhaust tip and the taillight tint, not quite sure about the chrome trim on the back. Look forward to see the M3 spoiler and paintmatched grille.

It's your car, don't worry about what others may think. If it makes you happy....

no chrome tail trims please. why black out window trims and chrome out the tail?

and are those flat paint staying on strong on those trims? anything painted over chromes peel over time unless all the chromes are sanded out.

defconskylude, you are a true pioneer. It definitely takes intestinal fortitude to attempt some of the mods you've made. I'm a fan of everything you've done so far other than the tow hook and chrome around the tail lights, but being able to see how they actually look is valuable to me and I thank you for your efforts. Keep up the good work.

thanks for the kind words
a lot of people ask why im doing this or that. im simply building for originality. i totally understand that the tow hook, chrome trimmings on the taillights and the custom fogs aren't for everyone and majority will think its ugly or useless but its my vision and im making it my own. when i go to the local TSX meets, that's how im different from the rest. if you dont like how it looks, that's fine. that gives you a reason not to implement it on your car and its less risk/money to you. a lot of the mods im doing is due to the lack of aftermarket support and that's why you see all these different parts from other models. some work, some wont, so what? right?

the tow hook will be removed this weekend to clean up the rear exhaust area.

continuing this weekend with the sanding. i think ill just paint the housing black instead of chrome.

i just dropped off my grill and m3 spoiler to get paint matched today.
they said it'll be done on Monday.

ok here's an update on some progress i did this weekend.

i finished sanding down the housing. its painted flat black right now.
ill be wrapping it in carbon fiber to finish the look.

i still need to add weather stripping around the housing

i switched the DRL/high beams wires down to the foglight area with yellow nokya bulbs.

i need to re-adjust the foglights so im not blinding people when the high beams are on.

the upper fog has no bulb yet. im buying a prewired yellow LEDs with transistors so i can plug it into my cigarette power adapter switch. i should be installing this next week or so.

i have to buy some yellow nokya bulbs for the upper headlight area. i just have to figure out how to mount the bulb/socket since its an OEM fit

also added chrome lining in the center area of the bumper.

i tried adding the tint myself on the fog lights but it looked like shit. ill get that done later on at a shop.
uh so what happened to my grill? its getting paint matched along with my m3 lip spoiler. im picking them up tomorrow and installing them probably before christmas if my work lets me out early.

btw im not done with this fog light project yet!

anyways here's various shots i took with my iphone. some with DRL on. some with high beams on.

Looks good, it will definitely look better with the paint matched grille. How did you rewire the DRLs to the fogs?

yea i cant wait for the grill and m3 spoiler install. it'll make the car more complete

i just used glue to mount the bulb/socket. i had to cut some of the zip ties that allowed me to further extend the DRLs down to the fog light area. its pretty easy.

only thing i had done professional were the exhaust tips, paint matching(grill/m3 spoiler) and the taillight tint.
