Utah,

How much is required up front for you to start making a kit?

Curt,

Where I'm at right now, I do not know if I would strap a turbo on without having an LSD and proper clutch installed.

As soon as the motor starts pulling, if there is tire spin the engine slams the throttle shut.

It's quick, and it's fun. Just not really getting used...

Also, we aren't sure about passing emissions.

Ever consider super charging the TSX? Just wondering, because there's already a kit out there (CT Engineering).

Hmm so trans and clutch swap probably necessary or turn off stability control all the time

Trans swap? With what?

New clutch is like a necessity. I would say LSD is a luxury, unless you are racing/autocrossing.

How does that work with the Electronics? Link?

Beats me, isn't there a direct swap trans?

And yeah for turbo clutch is necessary. Even with my old chassis (G20) and a small turbo a clutch was needed unless you babied it.

Do you guys think that a new clutch is needed for the s/c kit?

How does it work?

We dropped it in the case. It works. As for links, I know I made mention in this thread and another thread saying that it was successful. I even updated with thoughts and further information. In straight line with good traction it is a whole lot of fun. And modulating throttle going around a clover leaf is also good fun, the car just pulls you through...

As for pictures, I have pictures of the 10 bolt ring gear, and the diff before it was dropped in. No work of while in progress. I am a proud owner of an oem open diff sitting in my mfactory box now though.

I had to get a DD, so I got an 02 2.5 RS scooby, and am kind of falling in love with it. And as since it's winter, I only get the Acura out when it is an exceptionally nice day. In the past year, I have only put 1500 miles on the car. The Odometer is like at 558xx something.

I believe I'm going to apply for emissions exemption so I do not have to test the car anymore. If that fails, I will dismantle the car and put it back to oem and then sell it off - I am the original owner and have taken very good care of the car.

The traction control detects speed difference between front and rear tires and then it slams the throttle shut.

Well I know how an LSD works. What I meant was how does it work with the traction control and the wheel spin of the turbo? Was it worse or better after the LSd install?

I did the LSD before the turbo.

Utah does not have an LSD. He has issues with wheel spin and wishes he had an LSD.

I have an LSD, and really want more tire (if I keep it I'll go with wider tires). Utah I believe is running a 245 or 255.

I want to run 255 with an LSD.

When it catches in a low gear, it's a lot of fun. But if it's a too cold a day, or if it's raining, the traction control will blip all the way up through the top of third gear, which is like... 83 or 85??

I'm thinking I should just get the S/C kit on this car and then pick up a preturboed car as you suggested

Jaheri kind of has the idea.... I was angling more on the car as a whole...

Before I really consider it, I need to tally up how much was actually spent.

Of course I'd be losing my ass on it...

But I have been considering it. Pending emissions and all.

As a rough estimate, everything that is under the hood of the car right now is over 7k.

I very much welcome you to become the fourth CU2 turboed in the states.

Utah and I seen a picture of it on Chris Miller Racing's FB page. It's a Cu2.

No idea other than they said it was turbo charged and they were tuning it.

I didn't see this response. I am manual. So fully bolt on with intercooler kit as well? I would just need to add a clutch kit and electronics like gauges and boost controller etc? What are the specs on the turbo? I know it's the PTE 5858 but not sure if it's ball bearing or what housings etc

Also just a sidenote, how is the turbo. Checking it out it's huge, is it too big? Does it take forever to spool? Or does the late spool help with wheelspin? Are there dips in power because of VTEC etc?

Curt, I hope you have a DD. It's really difficult for me to do installs and continue to drive my car. I have the SC kit and while everything seems straight forward, problems always arise.

If you are still making payments, I'd pay it off first.

the EFR is at full spool 10psi on my tune, by 3k rpm. But partial response is plenty quick.

I am running the low boost can, should have gone medium, but oh well, it is fine as I currently do not plan going full built with this car.

The turbo is great for this motor, and the redline of 7600 seems all too soon.

I am also no stranger with the mod game, but becoming older in the game has also started making me much wiser about decisions. This will be the last of the newer cars I touch - except for maybe if I get a turbo legacy or sti or something. Or maybe if honda ever brings over a turbo motor I'll consider them again...

But Utah makes a sweet kit, no doubt about that.

I pissed him off a few times with my do it my way attitude, he wanted to do more things totally by himself so in the end I had to step back a little bit an keep my mouth shut.

I love the way my Dad approached my learning.. BUT it was 98% of the time exactly as you described "do it my way" (and I see now it's only because you speak from experience, and you don't want them going down a path you know all-to-well).

The thing is, you really only ever learn by doing it yourself (and)/ making mistakes. That's one thing I plan to let my future proteges learn on their own. As long as it's not endangering their safety, and I have given them my opinion I fully support whatever they decided (only when it comes to car modding of course and they are spending their own money they have earned. )
