Possible cracked valves

I got a call today from the stealership today service advisor told me that my car may have some cracked valves. They are done with my transmission overhaul, but once they test drove the car it it's was rough on idle then the check engine light came on. Engine misfire is what they told me. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and change the spark plugs.

If it's the valves what should I upgrade to? Euro CL9 valves?

Any suggestions on upgrades and what could it be?

I hope it's something small :-/

Complete transmission overhaul plus exedy clutch and flywheel is not cheap.

Can you ask the acura tech if the final drive and ring gear are the same size on the 08 vs. 09?

Still want an LSD, I am just trying to avoid purchasing another 09 final drive and ring gear purchase just to compare them.

Back to thread though, sorry for side question. Have you considered supertech or skunk2 valves?

If it were on acceleration, shifting from 2nd to 3rd and you sneezed the tranny, the rev limiter would have kicked in.

If you mechanically over-revved it by shifting from 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th, that's a different story.

Remember, we're talking about Ronald here, it would be easy to do with 490whp, 587tq.

Clutch was slipping hard and could not handle the power. That cause stress on the trans then cause for shifts to be hard do when I took it to the track i could not go in to 2nd gear at high rpm. That's when I over rev the engine. Made a dent on the valves.

And yes 400 whp then I woke up hahaha. More like 230 I think.

^you're not at 230 to the wheels....

sounds like some one cant drive slipping clutch on a brand new vehicle....
you should have gotten the auto. v6....now that puts you closer to 230hp to the front wheels.

my stock clutch handles fine at 240hp....would you like to see the dyno chart?

Like HD said, you must have been downshifting....5 to 2nd....over-rev conditions.
the computer will not allow you to over-rev upshifting.

Hahaha I've been driving MT since I was 14 years old.

Yes once the car is out I will dyno it.

I'm thinking of going with the euroR head. Would it fit? For sure I a need a tune.

Your right I'm too aggressive with this pussy ass car. I used to drag race my cobra and mach1.

Anyways I'm thinking of upgrading to supertech valves and springs any input on that?

This is some funny sheeeit. Ronald, seriously? How much did you blow on the tranny repair and "new clutch"

Now, another $2,600 to get *right back* where you started?

Um, if you were worth your salt in the shop or behind the wheel you would have performed these repairs yourself and then you could have really shown the dealer who's boss.

Part of me enjoys calling BS. The other just thinks "Meh, what's the point?

If you wanted a dragster, shoulda kept the Stang, then again, race cars don't have doors.

^but there is something going on, here.
a brand new vehicle shouldnt be having gear problems, unless you're RAGGGING the shit out of it.
you're in love with the TSX, treat it as so.

and you cant complain about putting money into it, as you're the one that caused it.
dont do stupid shit, save money. Got it?

I'm mad because I didnt abuse it that much to be breaking down on me like this.

But anways I made this thread for you guys to help me.

Skunk2 sounds promising but way over price.
Super tech has a lot of options that i would not know What to choose.

Since there is no tuning for our cars should I even be porting and polishing the heads and getting better valves. Also should I get higher compersion valves and should I get new valve springs if i do all this?

I have been considering trying out that unichip. I just need to find an install shop and tuner within my area, haven't found one though, as unichip's site is currently being revamped. Seems that chivik can tune a SC tsx with it, why can't we??

it depends on what you want out of the vehicle.
and if there is no tune available...youre new added parts wont be worth it.

You are right why can't we. I live in a small town and the only real fast cars here are muscle cars. So no support for Honda/Acura. In the L.A area I'm sure there is some one that can do it.

True but the lines of the TSX are so sexy. I will build my tsx to be fast.

I live my life a quarter mile at a time.

OK, enough of me being a dick. There's no such thing as a high compression valve. You really, really, really need to invest some time in an automotive math book, or get some techincal training. If you don't, you're going to expend a ton of $ and go nowhere. Believe me, there's plenty of people willing to separate you from your money in this arena.

Like Justnspace said, pick a target for the use of the car, target horsepower, desired powerband, and approach it as an assembly. Keep throwing mis-matched parts at it and you're going to waste a butt load of money and have nothing but a POS to show for it when you're done. (You have no need for a new clutch, even with a base level boost supercharger, unless you beat the piss out of it.)

If you go throw a big cam and big valves at a stock rotating assembly & stock engine management, instead, give me the money, I'll kick you in the nuts and the result will be the same.

(We actually are trying to help.)

Ronald, i absolutely second the heavyduty clutch...it will be a waste.

if you get it installed, you have done nothing to make the car quicker. you dont have the power levels to be even putting in a heavy duty clutch.
all you'll get is just a stiff clutch.....your left leg is gonna be full of muscles.

The clutch and flywheel are installed. Fully built heads will be done by the end of next week. I have nothing to lose I have to fix the valves anyways. Yes there are high compression valves check out supertech and skunk2. Maybe Ill get some gains maybe I wont who cares it's still cheaper than the stealership.

and where are you getting this tuned?
do you even have a piggy back or a viable tuning solution?

all these mods wont do a thing, unless you get it tuned.
