Your friend has no idea WTF he's talking about. As long as you remember to plug the MAF back in after the install, you shouldn't get a CEL. Tell him to learn about cars before he starts trying to give advice.

If you went turbo or SC, then you might want to think about getting a wideband. But not just for a CAI.

Uh, yeah, ditto on the WTF? Your friend read "wideband o2 sensor" and got it mixed up with a "MAF".

Keep asking and someone somewhere will sell you a stock MAF sample tube and tell you it's a 'wideband'.

No such thing, and no wideband o2 needed for an intake. You'll remove your stock maf from the stock intake tract and install it on the new intake.

I would completely bypass the MAF if I was to turbo.

I am assuming you are going the custom route since there is turbo in production for the 2G let alone the 1G TSX. Kpro hasnt even been developed for the 2G TSX and has only been recently introduced to the 1G. What are you going to do about engine management and tuning?

kits for you car? there's no off-the shelf turbo applications for our car. everything will have to be custom

There is a off the shelf turbo kit for the K24z motor available on Ebay.. Would I trust it? Probably not, especially considering the kit cost less then $600.. I'm sure if you got the budget though to fabricate some engine management, and actual numbers to successfully run a decent low to mid boost turbo wouldn't be impossible in the next year.. Just upgrade your suspension and change your engine brackets and drop the v6 in :-P

those off the shelf turbo kits are not really for our car. Im just saying if they dont have one for the 1G, I highly doubt there is one for the 2G.
