RDX Turbo

Well, reading all the post on this forum has been 100% helpful and assisting me in understanding cheap upgrades for my vehicle, if Only i had that audacity to touch my vehicle with my own hands I wouldn't have to pay the stealership to do everything.

During my last visit to the dealership to address a squeaking noise the engine or transmission makes when I shift during hard acceleration, I was on a road test with the head mech at Norris west acura in Ellicott city MD and he threw out an Idea of dropping the RDX turbo into my vehicle. Said the only thing they'd have to change is the location of the inner cooler, and add some guages and i should be able to run low boost.

Thoughts concerns?

Ha.. he also threw out the idea of adding the AWD suspension system to the rear of my vehicle and, pretty much throwing my TSX on the RDX chasis.. not sure how they'd manage that. He said it could be done for a littler under $15,000 though.. definitely in consideration =-O

I kinda looked into this earlier. The 2.4 in the 09 TSX has an exhaust...bung or port where all the exhaust comes out one hole where the RDX has a turbo manifold made for 4 ports. So, it appears as though you'd have to do a head swap then install the factory turbo manifold/turbo, coolant/oil feed & drain lines, fabricate a downpipe & intercooler piping, select a transmission 2WD/AWD? Then you gotta figure out if you want to try to use a rear diff from a...CR-V? RDX? Lastly, but ceratinly not least, then figure out what you want to do about management.

IIRC, the OE turbo from Honda is some ludicrously priced unit. I want to say they want ~$2,xxx.00 list for it alone.

The car would be a lot of fun, but the dollar/exclusivity ratio is out of whack.

yeah, i could see that.. I'll have to wait for some rich guy to do it and drool over his car and tell him i want it, when really i'd never want to have anythin to do with it.. sounds fun though, i'd prolly go with the AWD :-P .. could you still keep the same tranny? or would I have to switch out the 6 speed with something more durable since it was made for a measely 172 torque

Dunno. I would be curious if the CR-V AWD manual (if they make one) would work.
