K23A1 Engine swap?
Possible? LOL.
I know that talk of swapping the K23 into a various amounts of other Hondas have been talked about/tried, but how about our car?
A factory tuned turbo engine in the TSX would be nice...
It's not like I'm planning to do it anytime (soon at least), but would it be possible? I was just wondering.

with money, anything is possible! look at the civette! (civic + corvette engine/drive train)
but u gonna have to put some series cash in it, which IMO would probably be better to buy the v6 or add the s/c kit

I'm talking easy drop in with minimal fabrications and such...LOL. Like the size, compatibility, transmission, etc etc.
I've just seen a lot of conversations about this engine and how people have been trying in different cars and I was wondering if other people thought of this too...it would be pretty sick though, right?

this would no work. people have tried with the 1st gen and found the k23 to be longer then the k24 with the oil pan and intercooler etc. youd need to move the engine mounts etc and not to mention a new wire harness and a new trans unless the tsx fits but i dont think it does and the rdx is awd so its big. better to do a s/c or a v6

hey! lol yes a turbo would be amazing with the sound but theres no options for upgrading other then a reflash and bolt ons ...but i still like the wine of a s/c only wish i could afford one.

you can't drop it in for cheap. The car ECU is going to bitch and wonder why there is only 2 wheels. The second thing would be you need an adapter plate for the transmission. It will not bolt onto any other k series transmission. Someone on k20a.org bought old hoping to do a transplant in his civic. I think he still has the motor since he can't do anything with it as of now.

yup with a new harness and only using the 2 wheels itll get mad. there were a few people who took out the front axles to dyno on a rwd dyno. if i had a rdx id do tht and not have as much drivetrain loss.

Actually, the base RDX now comes with front wheel drive I think as of 2010.
The main issue I believe is that the engine wont bolt up to the stock TSX transmission...and I also believe that you just cant take the RDX's transmission due to packaging issues, or in other words it wont physically fit in the tsx. You would need custom engine mounts, custom axles, and a buncha other stuff making it very cost ineffective.
It would end up much cheaper to build a custom turbo kit or just get a supercharger for even more power than the K23. That and it would be much better packaged.

weve already established that the trans wouldnt work since its been tried in the 1st gen. even the fwd rdx wouldnt work since all they did was take out the diff and joints for the awd. you could get the tsx trans to fit with money and a custom built plate but no point when if you think about it correctly if you put a s/c on the k24 you have tons more power and tuning and performance options. and a tsx with a s/c would be ablout the same as a rdx with everything anyway.

The K23 engine is meant to bolt up to the J series bell housing.

Yeah, years ago one of the import mags did an article on the K23, talking about block reinforcement, how the turbo had a variable nozzle, and so on. They used the J series housing to allow the block to deal with added power, etc.
If I had money it'd be worth looking into, however I still hold out hope that someone will some day put out engine management for our chassis. Though seems kind of doubtful, nothing but weak excuses.

hondata needs to get on the ball about getting software for us. it took them a long time to get it to us 1st geners and we still have to piggy back off an rsx ecu. i have wondered if they would just make a flash pro for us since they did for the si and s2k which have dbwand vsa.
