UPDATE

Chivik has the ECU and will be reflashing it tomorrow. The money has been ready for a while now. Sweet!

Although this means that my Dragunov would have to wait...

Does this work for an auto transmission car? Sucks that its a flash, the atmospheric conditions in russia are significantly different than those in the US.

Dude, the conditions are the same. The last time I checked the Russian also inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. If you are talking about the climate then it really depends on where you live, even in the US. You are in CT and you consider 49 degrees as a fair day but in SoCal we are freezing our asses off....

By the time I put the reflashed ECU in the car I would have AEM's intake as well. I really hope this can improve the only aspect I don't like about my car

yea, but tunes account for elevation, atmospheric pressure, humidity, etc. If you don't believe me, I can try finding links to back this up.

you can do tuning on a broader scale too, although ideally it would be tuned to your atmosphere conditions, im sure more broad tuning can be done too, like lowering the activation point of i-vtec, though idk much about this, maybe one of you can chime in with more info

You are talking about professional racing tunes not the type of mass market tune we are talking about here. I understand the precision that goes into each F1 race but we are not driving forumla cars. Even if Chivik does take in all that into consideration I would still get smoked by a Camaro SS.

I should get about 21hp and 17ft/lb at the wheels. For pricing please contact Chivik/Gosha.

Once I get it I'll see if I can meet up with Defcon and Ed since we are all in SoCal so I can get their opinion on it as well.

The reason I ask is JnR who made the standalone ECU is looking into venturing into the TSX and the 4G TL's.....

on the stock TL this made 22HP and 25TQ and it retails for $1395 but you can get it in the GB for $1225....

if there is enough interest then maybe we can work something out

not to step on Chivik's toe but sending out an ECU for a reflash versus having an ECU which connects to your stock ECU and you can monitor knock, adjust AFR and so many other things....

I'm not sure how the gains are measured but keep in mind that the stock TL already makes a lot more power than the I-4 TSX. The total cost of getting Gosha's flash is no where near what JnR charges.

^^^ the test TSX made more power/torque with the JnR ECU FYI....and through the powerband....

also as i said your comparing a reflash with a standalone ECU where you can TUNE your car....with a reflash you cant....

well am not going to shit on this thread anymore, sorry Chivik....i just wanted to know the cost, so i know what the guys are paying.....will open a new thread with all the dyno graphs + videos

Competition is a good thing

Any idea how other mods will work with the JnR ECU? Let's say a CAI gives it +10 whp/ 10 wtq does the ECU bump it up to +12/12 ???

I dont know if i would pay 1200 dollars for an ECU....I mean I understand that it gets you more whp and all that stuff, but idk if i can justify spending over a grand for that! I'd rather save 3-4gs for my turbo

These are Mass Air cars, not Speed Density, the newer tuning systems (even OE flashes) have to accomodate environments from Denver (high altitude & cold) to Dallas (sea level & hotter than hell).

The lowest common denominator for fuel has to be considered as well. We have 93 pump and 100 pump unleaded here in Fla, whereas other parts of the country only get 92. It doesn't sound like much difference, but 1 point can make a huge difference in tuning, *particularly* with forced induction (which we're not talking about at the moment). I won't bore ya with the details...

What kinda fuel do they have where Chivik is?

you wont get a turbo for 3-4 grand....ur looking at 6-7 grand

yes you will get a supercharger with half the gains for ~4 grand....

THIS !!!

a reflash done depends on a lot....Chivik saw a ton of gains maybe because he was running at 60-65degrees and on 100 octane gas....the minute you put in 93, say to your tune/reflash.....

with a standalone ECU, once you switch from 100 octane to 87octane you can change ur tune.....so everytime you wont have to ship your computer out to mother russia....

well going from no ECU to ECU your looking at gains of 20+WHP and 20+WTQ

whether you have an intake or you dont....best part is the ECU will come with a base map loaded which will correspond to your mods hence you will be ready to run....no downtime....

I have not heard back from Chivik since Monday. Money has been sent via paypal and he's got the ECU. I know I get paranoid about stuff like this but hopefully it's just me being impatient as usual and worrying too much.

In this forum world we're in, it would be a lot of work to hose one person & not get any more business.

Then again, look at Hennessey...LOL

You're covered with paypal anyway, right?

It makes no logical sense for him to do that, I know. Like I said I'm just extra paranoid when people do not get back to me. I know it could very well be that he is just busy, internet is down or some other trouble. I tend to think the glass is half empty

I am not sure how "covered" I'm with paypal...maybe it is time to find out.

He is trying to be funny the American way and most of the time you are not American you will be offended. I have relatives in Asia and they don't think any of my jokes are funny.

In any case Chivik's friend will be send me the ECU. Now I just need to figure out exactly how to get it into my car.
