Speaker Replacement Advice

I'm going to replace my non tech speakers with one of the following and wondered if anyone had these or opinions on which might be best. Infinity Kappa 52.9i, Boston Accoustics S55, Alpine SPR-13C or Polk Audio DB521. I'm replacing the stock sub with a Kicker 10C84. What do you think?

1. Check www.metraonline.com for fitment guides.
2. I would go with Boston Acoustics SR60, even if I'd have to save up and buy 1 pair at a time (retails $399 @ crutchfield but around 200-220 on ebay)
3. something along the lines of a JL W3 for sub.

I'm a fan of Polks, as they typically have softer high's compared to others. They'll still sparkle, but not overly shrill. Just personal preference.

As I mentioned, I'm going to continue powering the system via the stock amp. I'm not looking for more volume but clearer sound. Thanks for the input so far.

to civichbdx,

Sounds like a nice setup for you. I gues you are powering these with an amp correct and not stock amp? Did you use an inline convertor?

Civichbdx - What installation guides did you use?

Hey, I am new to car audio and would like to upgrade the sound on my 2010 TSX w/ Tech Package. I want more bass and clearer sound. I gather that a sub and better speakers up front will help. Is there a sub I can buy that will fit into the existing 8" sub slot? Will 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 inch speakers fit up front? Anyone recommend Crutchfield?

Have you installed these in your car? Positive that they fit? This is exactly what I want to do.

Yup 6 1/2 on all 4 doors and for the sub not to manny free air subs that sound good out there but that JL audio might do it. I recommend crutchfield bought my 6 1/2's from them and they have never let me down.Good luck

Sweet, thanks. I am looking at these two:

One of the other forum members recommended the Boston Acoustics SRXX but it looks like that's only for the rear deck (at least according to Crutchfield). These should fit all the way around. What do ya think? Are these things a pain to install?

I went with the Boston Acoustics S55's for front & rear. A Kicker Comp 8" sub replacement. Installing tomorrow & will come back with how it sounds over OEM.

Can you replace the speakers with a brand that will sound good with the stock amp?
