A few things to consider;

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...ng-6-2003.html

On the other hand, if you have a tech , then I'm not quite sure how the ASC work or if sound deadening would have any effect on the system.

There is also the school of thought that placing a small(6x6) square of sound damening material on a panel is sufficient to disrupt any vibrations from the panel - this is what most manufacturers do.

Actually this is waht I did on my TL, I took off the weather plastic thing and put 2 4x4 sheets and it made a huge difference, but also running a really big midbass driver in there. Also the doors sound alot more high end when you slam them

Hey CED, great read once again. Now what would be the best way to apply and were to get the greatest benefit. How much should I apply to doors? Floor boards? and headliner?

they sell door 'KITS'.

you will want to put some on the inner door skin once the panel is removed. you will also want to put some on the inside of the outer panel where you can get it in there.

to help with more bass you can SEAL some of the bigger holes in that inner with some plexi. need to be removeable you ever have a window issue.

IMO you can definitely do this yourself, maybe not to the UMPTH degree but IMO it doesent take much to improve over stock in all sorts of areas.

i used b-quiet.com. i bought a bunch from eBay cheaper than new.
and a cheap wall paper roller. def helped/

Hard to say since I don't know what noises you are trying to get rid of. Like I said earlier, I also don't know how the active noise reduction works in our cars and I'd hate to add dampening just to create another issue.

Can someone here intelligently discuss the Active Sound Control and identify which cars it is in? I've heard everything from V6 to tech package to neither.

In short, ASC uses a microphone to pick up "steady" noise (like engine drone) and produces a harmonic to cancel out that drone.

While we know that the microphone is in the cabin, and the system uses the regular speakers to create the cancelling noise, what I don't know is if dampening the door panels would interfere with that.

How do you turn it off. Everything I've read says that it is always on.
