Question How to remove XM antenna/trim from roof

Hi all, I'm new here, so hopefully this isnt a repeat question... I just bought a Palladium Silver Metallic 2010 TSX AT5 Base in December and I'm trying to personalize it a little.

I'm planning to do a gloss black vinyl wrap on the roof, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on the pieces I'll need to remove in order to complete this. Particularly the XM antenna, and the rubber trim.

Also, because the roof will be black, I'm thinking I'll want to get a black antenna. I would paint it, but I don't have the equipment to do it right, and would rather not have to pay someone to do that if I can find an inexpensive fin in a gloss black, even if it's in the Crystal Black pearl... I just dont want the PSM fin sticking out like a sore thumb on the black roof. I've checked some oem dealers, but they are asking about $75 for the fin... I think thats a bit high.

Anyone here actually done the roof wrap, or changed out their antenna?

Thanks
Brad

Every roof mounted fin I've ever seen has to be accessed from behind the roof liner. Accordingly, you'll need to drop at least portion to get to the antenna attachment points. Probably not worth it.

Seriously? That would suck . I've heard that some just screw off, and I was hoping this one would, but I was afraid to put any force on it to check because I dont want to break it...

I know the one in the RL requires removal of the roof liner.

I was told I'd have to drop the liner too so I just trimmed around it.

I am too looking to see how to remove the shark fin because I plan to vinyl my roof. So far, I found instructions on a TL where you go through the rear dome light.

I found this on the rubber trim. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

How did you vinyl turn out?

If you do not want to break the glue bonds, you can just wrap around the antenna. I wanted to tuck the vinyl underneath the antenna so that why I did this. Also, the antenna is NOT fully removable. It is attached to a thick cable so you can pull it off the roof, but it will still be attached to the car.
