HID Fogs don't turn on

Before i put in HIDs for my fogs, i had a pair of LEDs which worked perfectly till the bulb broke in half due to poor build quality. But i never had this problem.
The HIDs don't always turn on when the car is started, i have to cycle the fog light switch to cut the power, then turn it on and the lights will turn on. kind of annoying. anyone else notice this with their aftermarket HID fogs?

I partly blame acura for this. though i am sure the aftermarket HID kits don't have the highest standard of quality. the issue i see is that the car leaves uses the low beams and fog lights for the pathway lighting when you unlock the car. and then you turn the ignition, the power to the lights are cut once or twice. and then turn on full once the car is on. this is probably not good for any of the bulbs or ballasts. the low beams can handle the quick power switching, but the fogs usually go out. sometimes only 1, sometimes both. and i have to cycle the power to turn it back on.

probably not a big issue, but an annoying one.

So you are blaming Acura for you using low quality aftermarket crap?

If everything works as intended when using OE parts then it certainly is not even remotely Acura's fault.

I suggest you run a separate wiring harness for the HID fogs. The OEM 10amp fuse rating for each fog is borderline. The other option is to make sure you turn off your fogs when you turn off your engine to avoid this quick on and off flickering...

are you sayin that when you turn the car on your lights flickered and the fogs turn off? if so, try to not leave your lights in auto. turn the car on, then turn on the lights manually.

I have the EXACT same problem. Everytime I get in my car, turn it on, flash the high beams once or twice. it's become routine to me.

there is no pattern for which bulb doesnt turn on, sometimes both, sometimes just one and i feel like a dope.
all that flickering cant be good for the bulbs or ballast

plus, putting a bigger fuse is not advised.
the wiring can only handle so much, by putting a bigger fuse, you run the chance of something catching on fire.

the proper way is to run a relay wire, which allows enough watts to pass through to power the fogs

Darwin approves of using larger fuses than the wiring is designed for.

The wire overheats, the fuse doesn't blow and the car catches fire, turning the driver into a crispy critter - one more fool off the road.

Same issues here. I'll have 1 of the two lights survive the start-up... but... too get the other one back on, I'll have to turn off the fogs and turn 'em back on again. I got two years out of my aftermarket kit -- running the headlights all day and all night with many many startups.

everyone that is having this issue, use relays to fix and also suggest getting quality bulbs and ballasts. UV Coated bulbs will protect the chrome reflectors from peeling. I get all my bulbs and ballasts from www.theretrofitsource.com
