Hardwiring Mirror Mount Radar Detector

I'm seriously looking at purchasing this mirror mount for my V1 radar detector.

http://store.blendmount.com/blendmou...000a-p348.aspx

On my other car I am able to tap into the back of the mirror for switched power and use a very short cord (9")to the detector from there.

Is there a way to do this in my 2011 TSX Sport Wagon? If not, how would I wire it?

Any guidance from those who have wired their detector would be appreciated.

I think Invisicord makes a prewired cable for this. One end of the wire goes to the radar and the other end plugs in to the existing wire clip on the mirror. http://www.invisicord.com/install.html

If you are gonna wire it yourself make sure to use a fuse between the mirror power and radar. I shorted my cheap Cobra by not using a fuse...

Thanks blutsx. All I can say is, why didn't I think of that? The invisicord is what I use on my other mirror!

Wanted to bring this thread back from the depths. Did you end up wiring it in successfully? There are a couple of hardwire kits out there that look to tap into the rear view mirror harness.

I just order the blendmount for my Escort 8500. I also ordered one of their fused hardwire kits. I'll have some install pics once I receive it and install it.

I just wired the long as cord around my car with the plug plugged into the center conceal. Wish I knew about this cord to save me about two hour of my life lol
