Windows down, Door locked

Getting gas this morning, I had my windows down but locked the door to run inside for a Red Bull. Came out, reached in the window to unlock the doors from the inside, but they wouldn't unlock. Didn't know it would do this. When leaving the car in a parking lot, I've been just rolling down the windows a bit to let in some fresh air, just enough so a crook can't get his hand inside to unlock it. Now I can let in even more fresh air!

Im guessing this is a security feature. With the older hondas, you were able to just get a cloths hanger wire through the crack and unlock the doors because the locks always has power to them. This is a great feature. The car cuts power to the locks after a set period when the key is out of the ignition.

Did you try unlocking it manually too or just with the electric button?

in my experience, when you shut off the engine and get out with the keys in your hand, the alarm activates after a while.

I'm pretty sure you can unlock the door manually - In which case the alarm will sound.

Correct. Hence my question above.

I actually did the same thing, and I was unable to unlock the door manually.

hmm, seems interesting. the alarm should activate within a few minutes of the doors being locked with the keys out of the ignition. and manual locks always work, but set off the alarm as far as i know. BigD, if they didn't work for you, i think you were pushing them the wrong way lol. the unlock button inside the car should work no matter what though. if its hit when the car is locked with the remote, it will just also trigger the alarm.

when you get locked out of your car, and call acura care, they send over a guy to open it from a locksmith place. the way they open it is they prop the door open with an inflatable bag and wooden block by the top right corner of the drivers door. then they stick in a metal rod which has a curve to it, and hit the unlock button. this did not work on my car, because it was just really fucking difficult to get to the button and actually press it because it is raised. my keys were in the trunk, so i actually took the rod from the guy, and used it to press the trunk release on the door. alot easier as it is in a recess. if that button works, im sure the lock button works

Just to be clear, "manually opening the door" means moving the physical unlock lever (the one by the door opening handle), so that you can see the little red mark.

Correct. Pulling the key and locking the door arms the alarm and disables the electric door switch but doesn't keep a bad guy from flipping the manual switch and opening the door. Yeah, the alarm goes off but nobody pays attention to those anymore and your stuff is gone in a blink of an eye.
