Window issue
Window issue
Hey everyone.
I've had my TSX now for almost 2 months. My windows act a little strange and wondering if it is common or not. When I first open the windows, they open very "hard". So press down, and its a THUNK to open. But. If I have the window in any position other than the fully closed position, and THEN press down again, its nice and smooth. Going up is smooth as well.
Does anybody else's car do this? Common? Should I be concerned?

Perhaps. But does it do that on everyone's car? If it's a common thing then I won't worry about it.
In every other position and direction, up and down, it works fine. It is only when closed and I go to open does it have the hard open. Like it's stuck and pulling away from the door.

perhaps you can use a grease called Shin-Etsu grease to lube the window frame..the rubber
Also, because I've been working on cars for longer than 10 years...To ME; this is all common stuff that happens on ALL cars...not just an Acura, or even more specific, not just the 2nd gen TSX.
So, to ME; it's very common...
but to you; it may be the very first time you're seeing it.

thunks aren't normal.. may need to pull off your door panel and see if something is binding in the fully closed position. Sounds like perhaps the window actuator guide may have been replaced in the past and perhaps they didn't do the window reset procedure properly.
I saw another post with regards to window reset procedure and tried it, thinking that might be the issue as well. I actually work in the car industry and so Im in and out of cars all the time. Used to work for Acura 8 years ago. But don't recall this happening and don't really notice it happen on other cars. That's mainly why I've waited to bring it up and ask on this forum. To see if other fellow TSX owners notice the same thing.

Just the front two from what I recall. I had the windows re-tinted so I can't test at the moment. Even spoke to the guy tinting it and he thinks that it was due to the previous tint. There was "gunk" right at the top portion of the windows that came off with the old tint. My hopes are that this gunk is what caused it to possibly stick right at the point of opening.
I wish I had more data points... Anybody?.... Bueller?... Bueller?
