A couple of weeks ago, my TPMS Function Error message popped up on the dash. I figured since it's a 14 year old car it has to be one of the TPMS batteries so I ordered a set of 4 of them online and had a local used tires shop install them. They didn't have the programming tool. I found a local guy on marketplace who would program them for $20 with his Autel.
He tried several times but it kept producing errors and wouldn't program. The sensors registered with his scanning tool and he confirmed they're activated but when it came to actually programming them, it failed every time.
I tried it with my own Foxwell scanner as well but it keeps failing too. The Foxwell also comes with diagnostic tools and when I went through them, it says the initiators all failed.
I checked the TPMS fuse and it's good, no issues there.
Is it fairly safe to say it's the receiver that's gone bad in this case?
New OEM (39350-TL2-A12) ones go for like $400 and used ones on eBay go for around $80-160. After looking at pictures on eBay, I think I located it under the driver side dash, right near the steering column. It's only held on by a single 10mm bolt.
I tried searching here and other forums but nobody seems to have experienced this issue with all initiators failing, that I can find at least. Just looking for opinions/feedback or experiences you may have with this sort of thing before I pull the trigger on a $100+ gamble, I guess.
Long shot but where are the old sensors? Many years ago the TPMS system was self-calibrating and you had to drive the car for about 10-15 minutes. But if the old sensors were still in the car, say in the truck, the receiver supposedly could be confused and new sensors would fail to calibrate.
What brand did you order? I replaced all 4 of mine and it didn't require any programming but I did have the tool. The originals were Denso so I ordered the same it cost me $22 each.

Thanks. The tire shop asked me if I wanted to keep them and I told them no, so they just tossed them then and there. Everything I read on every forum says these should be self-calibrating but for some reason mine will not register.
I found another receiver from a junkyard for $40, ordered it and installed it but still no luck. It's been a couple days but all the sensors still read "--".

I ordered Honda ones 42753-STK-A04 PMV-107G. I stupidly just searched ebay for TSX TPMS and these were the first ones that popped up instead of searching for the dealer part number 42753-TL2-A52. But every thread I read says these should work on 2G TSX but for some odd reason they don't with mine. Maybe I'll have to order some Denso ones and install those instead.
