Just realized that, at the rate I'm driving, the TSX will probably last forever, especially with a long-term end to commute in sight for me.
What's your plan for the next car?
After upgrading to a Carplay head unit connected to a backup cam and adding a dashcam, I'm feeling ok tech-wise, and will need at least a few years to make the investments worthwhile.
Probably just missing HUD, 360 degree camera coverage, and an EV engine in terms of stuff I might envy and likely won't be adding to the TSX.
Are you guys driving your till there are major repairs, or have some other succession plan in mind?
At 69 years and my 2014 Sportwagon only having 60,000 miles, this may indeed be my last car. As I age I might like to have some driver assists, to keep me on the road longer. Given the expense of a new car I might just rely on Ubers, delivery services and rentals instead.
I've started to put away parts for my 2013 V6 TSX. I have no plans on replacing or selling this car. I recently replaced all of my suspension rubber bushings with polyurethane. And just yesterday put 4 new Bridgestone POTENZA RE980 A/S PLUS tires on. Age wise I'm in my 50s, my TSX and 2017 Chevy SS "Holden Commodore" should last me for the rest of my life.
Nope, no battery powered EV for me. I think its BS to push battery powered when fuel cell is a better option.
As for which parts to stock pile. OEM specific parts that tends to get discontinued. For example RV mirror caps, windshield side trims and other body parts.
I've been planning to replace my 2010 TSX in two years--for about the past eight years! But I've kept it because I don't drive enough to truly need something new, I still enjoy the classic Honda handling and 6MT goodness, and it's been unbelievably reliable. After 12 years and 130,000 miles, including many miles on Philly's battered streets, it's still rock solid. Just amazing. It's not only the best car I've ever owned, but one of the best products of any type, and I don't expect any subsequent car to match it for quality.
But I do want modern safety tech, Apple CarPlay, and possibly electrification, so I've started to get more serious about a replacement. If I stay with an ICE, the most likely choice would be the upcoming Integra, which looks to be a more luxurious Civic Si with available AT. For electrics, I'm interested in the new Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Mustang Mach-E, and Tesla Model 3. I've driven the Tesla twice, and it's fantastic, so given its range advantage and the prevalence of Tesla Superchargers where I drive, it would be the most likely if I had to buy today. If the charging networks for the others have improved when I'm ready to buy, I might do something else. With all else being equal (which it rarely is), I'd prefer to go with the Mach-E.
Ha I know the feeling; I drove my previous Accord until its demise albeit accelerated by incompetent car movers (never shipping a car again after 2 bad experiences lol). Carplay is definitely worth the upgrade if you're keeping it for over a year. (My setup, not shown is a backup cam that's hooked up to the Reverse gear). It will likely be at least a year anyway due to the long wait times for new builds lol. I see used options being flipped for more than new prices due to the lack of availability.
If I had to replace today, Mach-E or ID.4/E-Tron would be my go-to. Not a fan of Tesla's skimping out on a dashboard. However, I do hear that Tesla's handling of the cameras is better with regard to recording events. Mach-E does not record them, not sure about the VW's.
My understanding of the state of EV's is that solid state batteries will arrive within the next couple years, bumping range to ICE levels and lowering charging time (0-80%) to an almost negligible 15min. Here's a good primer:
So current thinking for me is to get my money's worth of the Carplay/backup cam upgrade for a couple more years, perhaps another year or 2 for solid state batteries to settle down in pricing/kinks, & then finally give up the 6MT for hopefully an EV with near-autonomous self driving.

Recently got stuck in traffic with the d-bag behind me either using high beams or just too high, getting blinded by the side mirrors reflecting their headlights.
TSX's adaptive rear view mirror to darken brightness is nice though response is sometimes pretty slow.

Fellow Holden owner here (2017 SIM 6MT)! I haven't hoarded TSX parts for my 2013 SE but have been thinking (too late...I know) about hoarding Holden parts.

If you plan on keeping the TSX you might want to start asap. Start with the interior door grab handles & windshield side trims. As for the SS, I'm already putting away parts. If you have not already, get the 4 mag ride shocks from rock auto. They are known for leaking! Also if you have done the Holden conversion. Get those parts while they are still available. Like you, I row my own 6 gears in the light my fire orange. Three links for you to start with
I still have my 2011 TSX with no plans on getting rid of it unless I find a good deal on a Blue EM1 or a 2023 Civic Type R. Both are unlikely so I'm going to be adding a backup camera here soon. I also might lower it just a bit more.
