Strange Electrical Issue 2013 SE
Strange Electrical Issue 2013 SE
I just acquired a 2013 TSX SE. It has developed an odd issue. While the car is off and no key is in the ignition it will randomly turn on the dash lights/power - speedo, tach, and the radio and climate control fans if they are left on when you turn the car off. This happens with no key in the ignition. It sort of replicates the action of putting the key into position 1. I took it to the local Honda dealer (nearest Acura is 1 hour away) and they replaced the electronic side of the ignition. This doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. When this happens overnight and I'm not able to catch it, the battery is completely drained and the car has to be jumped. The Honda service folks said they didn't have the ability to get full codes/diagnostics from the computer..... which seems odd to me since Acura is a division of Honda.
Has anyone had this happen? Any suggestions beyond driving the hour to an actual Acura dealership?
Thanks.

Just to close this loop for anyone having the same issue....... there was a small leak in the windshield at the top of the A-Pillar that was sending small drops of water down the interior trim and depositing them on the driver's side fusebox and OBD connector. This was shorting out random components and caused all these issues. It wasn't a huge leak, but it was enough. The guys at the Acura dealership spent 2 months trying to fix it and it cost $2100, only to happen again when the car got wet. Lesson learned...... if you have strange electrical issues with anything connected to the driver side fusebox (which is most things), check to see if you have a small leak. I never had discoloration on the interior trim, which made it really hard to see.
