Passenger Window Help - Not Closing Easily

Hello Everyone,

For the past few months, my Acura TSX has demonstrated some weird behavior when trying to close the front passenger side window. It doesn't matter if I'm trying to close the window with the 'master' window switch on the driver's side, or the front passenger side switch, it seems to always do the following:

Behavior:
The window rolls down normally without any issues. However, when trying to roll it up, once it hits the very top of the window, it ends up going back down a few inches. Almost as if something was at the top to set off the child protection feature (window rolls down). The only way to roll up the window is to go slow just doing it a few cm's at a time.....and timing it very carefully so it hits the top of the window and not for too long.
--------------------

Acura dealership wanted to replace the passenger window switch, but I'm not sure that makes sense if I see the same behavior from the 'master' driver's window switch as well. Anyone have any thoughts / ideas / feedback on what the issue might be?

Thanks,
Asif

Replacing the switch does not make sense.

I would start by lubricating the window run channel using silicone spray, including the top part of the channel where the window goes up and rests. Also check if it's misaligned in any way.

If that does not fix it, then you need to open the door panel and inspect the regulator and the channel in the door for either dirt, misaligned window, bent component, etc.

Hey Guys,

Sorry to bump this up after so long, but I finally had a chance to test the 'reset' feature. It appears my window is still having issues. I even popped out and disconnected the passenger side mirror switch, but this caused the window to not function at all (could not open/close with the master switch on the driver's side). I reconnected the passenger side mirror switch, and everything started working again....is this normal?

My guess at this point is something is wrong in the actual channel or inside the door, preventing the window from rolling up and staying closed completely. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Asif

Re: the window not working when the switch is unplugged.

That is normal. The drivers master switch will not operate the other windows without their switch installed.

My guess is that there is something wrong with the MICU which has a safety function that does exactly what you're describing. Either that or, as was stated before, check if there is something misaligned in the track or stuck in the top channel which would cause the safety feature to trigger.
