this product works for the 3rd gen TL apparently....

still looking at options for my licence plate. if this doesnt work...then L brackets and drilling on the bottom of the lower grille opening it is.

Don't think it will work on our TSX, we don't have tow hook mounted on our bumper.

They only have one available for the 3G TL and I don't think it look particularly great.

Try my solution and move it the lower bumper area.

haha damn, thought so. was hoping there is a hidden tow hook that i was not aware of lol. i might do what some members are doing, 2 L brackets in that opening. maybe a summer project...

and how did you move the bracket down tech? for the bracket i have, there are only 2 screw holes located on the top of the plastic grille, but doesnt seem there there are screw holes located on the bottom of it?

I wanted to move my license plates too!! But can't really put it on the sides like S15's, Evo's and stuff because I have the sensors :S
I was thinking of putting it where 09TSXTech has his but I'd have 2 holes in my bumper (not sure about you guys, but we have it).

If you can see that black part behind my license plates:

Another thing, I'm not sure if you guys see it often, but for the "JDM" look, some cars have tow hooks.. And I was just wondering is there anywhere we can put a tow hook for our cars at the front? Just a thought, might look too rice for cause our cars we a bit big.

Cheers!

Ugh... license plates in the front = FAIL.

I'm so thankful my state does not require them!

I tried to remount my front plate but the dealer screwed the plate mount right into the front bumper. Cant have those screw holes showing so I left as it.

ed_ i see your in socal, how anal are they about front plate location? when i lived in WA state i used to mount my plate with rivets to my passenger side sun visor and just keep it down all the time. i was also a lot younger and didnt care how it looked! haha, as i remember tough it didnt look bad at all and was highly visible to law enforcement.

lol. i wouldnt go quite that far, but it is a bitch because parking enforcement can give you a ticket for not having the plate, and the fine is $20 which can be reduced to $10 if you send in a picture of the car with the plate. this is coming from unfortunate experience. i just sucked it up and took my car to the dealer to get the plate put on

damn...
well ed i guess you just gonna have to go with stock placement!
what color is your car?
perhaps you could get a plate cover or frame or even a custom plate if you wanna go that far so it blends in more.
some peeps down here with white cars get Miami Heat plates with no frame cause its montly white it really blends in..
good luck

I relocated my plate in the lower grill area using a piece of aluminum from lowes, 3m tape, and zip ties. I didnt wanna drill L shaped brackets into the bumper and 3m outdoor tape holds like a motherfucker so yea ill take pics tomorrow lol

sorry for the shitty pics..its super sunny and i only had my blackberry camera.

Basically u can see I used the tape to tape the plate to the aluminum and then more tape to tape to the bumper. I then used zip ties on the bottom to make sure the plate doesn't flop around. This stuff is crazy strong...I pulled off my lip spoiler recently and it would not come off without tons of goo gone and a heat gun.

The plate is slightly tilted but its hard to notice from a little distance. I actually like that its tilted since it makes it harder for cops to laser my speed

To each their own. Main reason I did it was to make it a bit harder for cops to laser my speed since they have to aim it at the center of my plate. With the tilt and relocation it makes it a bit harder giving me more time to slow down.

I was going to put it in the center with the same tilt but meh I can always change it up if I get bored.

Sorry, I don't know much about this, but what does the tilt of the plate have to do with a cop analyzing your speed? Or are you talking bout cameras?

meh, i think tsx is a car where the license plate looks better in the center lol. and i'd like to avoid zip ties..as that's the only thing holding my license plate right now (cant tell tho haha)

but hey, thanks for sharing those pictures

How most cops in NY and NJ measure speed is by a laser gun nowadays. And to get an accurate read of speed they need to point the laser to the shiniest flat surface of the front of the car. This is usually the license plate. Since mine is flat nor in the center, it makes it a bit harder for them to have to aim the laser...which should in theory give me a extra second or two to slow down.

And np ed, good luck with the brackets since that was my original idea.

hahaah i actually thought of that before, but from my research and understanding, they are trained to aim for license plates so hopefully they dont think of that or else imma just buy the CT carbon fiber grill

Nope, no holes on the bumper man. This aluminum plate holder is screwed on to the same exact place where the stock plate holder is bolted which is on the lower plastic grill.

you need an inverted J not an L shape so no drilling is needed on the bumper.

Necroing an old thread to show how I mounted by license plate in the front. Previous owner had barely attached the OEM bracket to the grill, and it was basically held on with one screw. I wanted the more sleek look of the plate tucked within the bumper. While it is angled, it is still "visible" and therefore I assume still legal. All I did was buy a cheap bracket made by Bell, ran four zipties through the grill, attached the plate to the bracket, then tightened the zips. Bottom tight, and the top just tight enough so that the bracket wedges into the space. This is on an 09.
