The Official 2009 TSX Thread **Unvelied in NY**

I haven't chimed in on this thread yet but I suppose it's time. I can't form an opinion based on photos of the JDM version hiding behind metal poles, or a taped up USDM version.
The think that sold me on the 06 TSX was the interior anyways. Once I see the interior and we know more specs it'll be more fair to give a yay or nay.

my comparison with the 3 is more the shape of the trunk lid and back. judging by the camo'ed side profile and that backside pic, the shape reminds me of a 3 series.

when you're referring to the ugly rims, are you referring to the shots of the euro accord on the truck? Those are probably the euro accord stock 16" rims, so we won't likely get those here in north america.

Anyways here is a couple details I see I personally feel need worked on.
1) The Grille! The grille size and shape is fine. It's the positioning of the shield that makes it all wrong. I feel if they would have lowered the sheild about 2 inches and centered it in the center of the gaping hole it would have looked better. Like this for instance...

2) Rims! WTF is up with ugly rims? I thought the new accord had some ugly rim options...I think Acura/Honda has some kind of deal with aftermarket rim companies because everybody is going to (or should) be customizing this ugly POS's.
3) The fender flares!!! I personally think they are too big for this size of car. The current TL was just enough to make it look sharp. On the new TSX these look even bigger than whats on the current TL. On second hand...09 TSX lowered with some 19" rims and low pro tires might be a mean look sum of bizitch..IMO..lol.
4) My final complaint...the overall body shape/stance. I think acura should have taken a little more aggressive body shape and stance. IMO the new Accord coupe looks 10X more aggressive and sharper than the 09 tsx. Yes I know the 4 door vs 2 door helps but they made the current TL look d*mn aggressive with A-spec package...why not the tsx. they have a sweet body kit for this.
OK I'm done ranting..sorry for the long post!

Acura needs to get a clue and hire better designers. That new grille is gonna suck.
This guy made a chop for the TSX with the MDX grille like the RL chop and it looks so much better. Why can't Acura see this??

With everything being said about the big grill issue up to this point, I think it's horrible too.
But if it's painted to match the body I think it makes a HUGE difference. I really like it black/black in the photo, once you chrome it up though...... barf.

Alright, lets just hope that Comptech/Hondata come out with a supercharger for the 07's and 08's manual and automatic so we can all get one, keep our TSX's, keep the nice styling we've come to love, keep our acura grills, and have enough power to stop complaining!

That actually looks a lot better. If they can color it black so the color won't show that much. I may consider it as my next vehicle (also if they drop the OEM wheels). Hopefully if it is still not a chick car.

So are they still not planning on releasing full pics and specs until like 30 days before I can drive off the lot at the dealer? That just seems too soon. I guess I would have thought you would at least have specs and packages already. I think the 1series bmw is going to be available about the same time but info and pics have been out for it for say two months.

At first i thought the new spy photos of the TSX showed just a refresh.
but....after looking at the newest spy photos it looks a lot more like the sports 4 concept. Just look at the rear in the second picture and how its creased.
look for yourselves...

evryone is hatin on the rims.
acura usually has different options, including the aspecs which are amazing in my opinion.
if u still dont like em, you could always get rjs.
i really dont see rims as a major selling point, its not something i cant change

Don't get us hyped up again. We want some official site information on the February 11th day. You don't want to let wackura say something nasty when he got the 3, 2, 1 days left information before (which was a misunderstanding between the two).

What you're describing sounds scary and dangerous.
I'M one of the people calling for AWD, and i'm calling for handling in context to safety. Not everyone lives in sunny california [this is a shock to most californians, i know]. A luxury sedan is never going to be a performance beast first and foremost, so with all due respect, perhaps YOU should be buying another vehicle. OR it will have both and cost as much as a damn BMW.
I'm calling for AWD simply because of bad weather. I see the points about people driving fast but thats no reason not to give them the option for more safety. If they abuse it, then its their fault. i was driving home on thursday during that shitstorm we had here, and the morons in the SUV's that weigh three times what my car does think they can drive normal speeds in the snow and still stop on dimes. And they end up on the side of the road in a ditch. All i'm saying is AWD may not be the best for performance and i understand that, but we don't all buy cars to have fun in as our primary choice [or noone would buy volvos]. I drive mine 65+ miles a day to and from work, and i just want to make it there and back in one piece first. If i wanted a fun performance vehicle around 30k i sure wouldn't start with acura... 205hp, FWD and can't even be supercharged.. seems like a real good choice for performance.. I realize many here disagree but that's their opinion. Its not like the AWD is going to kill your awesome 15? second track times...
Wakura i'm guessing from your comment about it sounding dangerous that you've never driven in michigan during the winter. Our vacation ads should say, come visit michigan and let the potholes swallow you whole! If i had test drove this car during winter i most likely would not have bought it. The fact is that the VSA is too weak and it kicks on way too early. Yet on the other hand its safer for most of the drivers on the road who can't drive on their own [peg brake pedals to the floor]. My solution is AWD which gives me the added control in slick situations, yet doesn't make me think im in a tank. As it is now, i'll be getting new wheels, putting snow tires on these, and swapping bi-yearly. Its a pain but i prefer to be safer. G/F works in a hospital, Dad works in a body shop.. can you blame me?
So i once again have to disagree with you. When all of the competition have it, and Acura ignores it.. at least HERE in this market, they should stand to lose business significantly.
Also, i look at the styling [once again spy pics arent the best to judge from] and its not what I saw as the majority wished it would be. All around its just a lose-lose IMO. Most people that i saw wanted a turbo charged vehicle with 20-60 more HP at least, and sh-awd, and high hopes that the new tsx looked something like the sports4. Judging from what we've heard and seen, that's not happening. Can't say i held my breath on the sports4 stuff but it was a nice hope to have. The other minor things i heard were coupe and convertible, but i fail to see the market for the convertible.
And don't get me wrong, i'm far from an Acura hater. I love my car [aside from the newfound hate for snow driving]. But sooner or later you have to set aside the fanboyism and look at the facts. Its a 30k decision and brand loyalty goes out the window for me on something that big. Tally up the spec sheets and i think the TSX is definitely lacking currently for what i personally look for in a car.
I just think Acura needs to make up their minds. Either performance and sport, or luxury and comfort. Their current blending is falling short compared to the competition. Or bring back a vehicle like the RSX [aimed more at people like you who want a fun car with power thats nicer than a civic] and do what they need to do to the TSX to make it a safer luxury vehicle aimed at those other individuals. I wonder how many people here would own the current TSX if a sportier coupe model was still offered instead. Thats just my opinion. It seems like they are trying to blend between the two demographics and i think its failing. NOW i'm out on a limb because i'm totally speculating that last bit. Just saying what i personally see in those around me and their opinions. Unlike others i don't presume to judge the rest of the country. Automotive-wise no other state is anything like Michigan. Vehicles that sell great here, don't elsewhere for obvious reasons.
All in all its not a terrible looking change, its just barely a change. Not the refresh people were hoping for on any fronts. For me, nothing screams "trade your 07 in for me" and thats what i was actually hoping for.

I live in CA and I'm calling for AWD too. For a car with over 230HP, I just don't like it to be FWD. That's the reason that I choose TSX instead of Accord V6.
It seems like Acura doesn't want to make any RWD sedan. I really hope that SH-AWD will be an option or even come standard on TSX. It will be fun that if SH-AWD system offers an RWD mode.

I found a link that actually might be it!
I was online today and found a link with the 2009 TSX with minimal disguises but im not sure if its the real one. I think it is though b/c the heavily disguised one and this one really resemble and plus the rims are different. Here take a look:
http://www.leftlanenews.com/wp-conte...41&idg=1&idi=1
and here is the heavily disguised one:

i have to say, if this is the real thing, i say it looks pretty nice.

If they make an AWD option that's great, but Honda has always put fuel economy and leight weight over heavier safety options. If anyone is serious about AWD for the sake of safety look to Suburu. I like their cars a lot, and I only avoid them because they are harder on gas.

Wackura has got a point about the gas efficiency. AWD will reduce, especially if its turboed. I'm wondering though, and hope people chime in on this.
I've noticed that a lot of people have claimed the TSX is the bang for the buck entry level vehicle option (30,000), and I'm sure there is no doubt about that. But why is it that we complain about the power? Sure I'd take the 2.3T in our TSX anyday, but I'm not worried about cost. I see threads where people say they aren't willing to pay for a 40,000k 3-series with the same options cause its 10,000 dollars more, and got the TSX instead.
If we had a 2.3T or V6, the gas mileage would go down obviously thus increasing the total cost of ownership anyway. So is it that paying money out at the pump isn't as bad as paying the monthly payment for the 3 series or whatever else vehicle that has all the things we have, and the power boost we want or what is it?
The TSX is cheap because it is a good value and has great gas mileage. If you want more power, that means your paying out more for the gas consumed, why not get the 3-series or whatever else n the first place?
Of course I understand also if you just plain love the TSX, as do I!

Sounds like they are going to make SHAWD an option for the TSX and standard on everything else. I think that's a mistake if they want to be perceived as a second tier brand. Nothing says "economy car" like fwd 4 banger. They need to go RWD or AWD on everything.

Oh, and even if you had AWD, you should still be using your snow tires if you're serious about safety since AWD won't do a thing for you when you need to stop.

Winter Tires > AWD anytime.
