Question A couple of mod questions...

Ok there are 2 things I would like to do but I just want to get some advice on... I'm thinking of spray tinting my chrome badges on the trunk. I haven't messed with trunk badges before, and I saw that you can pretty much remove them with fishline/floss and maybe some heat? Ive seen people mention that when talking about de-badging... But I want to put mine back on, so what would be the best method of adhesion?

Another thing... I really like the rectangular exhaust tips on the TL, and I would like to get something like that, but the TSX bumper wouldnt fit that. If possible I'd like to get something sort of trapezoidal that would fit the shape but have flatter edges... Anyone changed the exhaust tips? Would it require new mufflers and all that or can I just interchange the ends? I probably sound like a noob, and that's because I kind of am lol.

1. the search button is your friend, though you haven't been too bad =P.

2. there are a few options for your rear. some members have debadged, and yes that involved using a heat gun(hair dryer works just fine and helps you not to mess up the chrome or paint). even letting it bake in the hot sun will work. then you use floss and just run it like a saw behind the emblems carefully. then just some Goo Gone to get rid of the adhesive. i Plastidipped my emblems, and i really like the look. i'll add some pics on the bottom.

2. there are a few different options for your exhaust tips. just do a search. most of them should be in the performance sub tab. defcon put some ls460 tips, but that required cutting up the bumper or something, but it looked great. heres the thread. just scroll down https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-photograph-gallery-144/2011-glm-type-s-kit-ls460-tips-814093/

up to you hondo, you can def. plasti dip without taking the emblems off, just tape off the sides and spray, then peel out the extra

and my emblems

Thanks man. I dont think removing them is going to be such a problem, but I was really wondering what people are using to put them back on... That plastidip does look really nice, and the wheel color as well. It looks like more of a matte finish though. I would probably want gloss so it remains chrome-like... I'm leaning toward using tint film an an exacto knife to cover only the front face of the letters though.

The exhaust thing, that guys exhaust tips look nice, but I dont want to do any cutting or anything like that. I'll check out that section to see whats up... I guess all I'm really wondering with that is what does it take to do it. Would I have to weld them on or something or is there a standard diameter that would attach to the muffler securely? I'll keep looking around though, thanks for your reply

Hondo, feel free to PM me, and i'll answer any plastidip questions. i'll be in paris from this saturday march 3rd until like march 10th, so if you wanna drive to me, i'll help you out with anything plastidip related hahaha. i'd actually love to see your car. i may also be in prague or dublin(actually have you been to either? which do you reccommend to visit for like 2 days)

i did the wheels and the emblems still on the car, i have some pictures of how i taped the trunk. make sure you cover the entire trunk, and rear so that you dont have to worry about overspray. it comes out perfectly and theres absolutely no need to remove them.

busy, it is a matte finish, but there is another spray which can make it glossy. theres also a few different colors and finishes. take a look at dipyourcar.com if you vinyl it, definitely post pics, i think you'd be the first to do so. to get the emblems back on the car, just use doublesided 3M tape. if your gonna be taking them off then putting them right back on, i'd suggest white tape underneath it, and pencil marks lining where the letters are, that way you can just line it up when you put them back on. the A symbol may have 2 pins in the back, i dont remember.

for the tips, you need to weld them i believe, and stock diameter is 2.5 inches. you dont have to change the muffler or anything. a few people just have magnaflow tips and stuff like that. i think ttk5 has tips

Welllll I got a little tail light tint vinyl and did the front face tint today. Turned out alright I think. I like that the edges are still bright chrome so they still tie in with the rest of the chrome trim.

I wish I had access to a cutting table and vector files of the emblems... I did this with film, a squeegee and a utility knife so it's not perfect, but I'd be the main one to notice the imperfections. Dont know if I'll try re-doing it or just leave it as is
