The issue though is still the FWD and open diff. The TSX will never win off a stop or low speed starts... just a crap ton of one wheel spin lol.
how much does the diff swap cost?

Also it's not really cheaper is it? WRX is like.. $25k, then stage 2 is a little under $1k.
STI is $34k MSRP, stage 2 $1k-ish. Dunno about Evo but they are dead now anyways. TSX was $34k msrp right? or something around that.

Infiniti G, yeah that costs way more but it's a much more premium / luxury car than any of these.
But the thing is you didn't pay MSRP for your TSX did you? It'd be cheaper than an STI in the long haul of things.

I agree with the open diff, you'll need to be at a roll if anything, or get an LSD from a Civic Si. I actually never had that question before... "is it fast?" lol, cuz it's basically a Honda at the end of the day. I think it's the right kind of sleeper for me. No ugly ass van sorta thing, just a TSX that isn't supposed to really impress performance wise. I guess what I meant was, you could definitely give an STI/Evo a run for their money when you keep up with them or even beat them if you're turbo'd.

Of course when I was saying this, I meant these cars are stock :P A lotta guys buy STIs, etc. because they're fast in their stock form and have no plans on modding it.

It's faster then ~90% of cars out there which is good enought for me
I have no problems sticking right behind much more powerful WRXs and GTs around the bends.
But I never drive above 45 anyways so maybe I feel differently. If I did a lot of highway driving 70+ mph maybe I would've bought something with a V6.
Didn't care for the WRXs interior. STi is 36-37k+
Drove the 2012 A4 2.0 & C250, no thanks.
CPO 328i or new TSX. Drove the TSX and saw the SE trim, done.

No, I only paid $20k out the door but mine wasn't brand new.

Ok yeah so if you are comparing to stock STIs, wrx, etc then yeah it might be faster and cheaper.. if you JUST want the straight line speed and power though.

Cause think about it,
We have AT, so we need to swap in a manual (no idea what that costs)
Now, we need the LSD (no idea what that costs)
Factory brakes are crap, BBK setup (stoptech BBK for example $1300)
Now, the car's handing from factory isn't terribly amazing.. coilovers and RSB (BC Racing $1000 + $180 RSB + $100 if you go with the SHAWD FSB)
Now need to replace the stock wheels and tires which are garbage ($1500+ for something good)

Adding power.. Utah said it was around $10k for his setup I remember reading in his thread.
OR Supercharge it, $3700ish (?) + aftercooler (?) + Hondata and tuning

+ exhaust setup.

You're in like 15k not including the diff swap and AT / MT swap and labor costs for things you can't do yourself (turbo, AT swap, diff swap).

Now you could do all this and it'd make a bitching fast sleeper which handles really well and looks awesome but that power still isn't as usable as a RWD or AWD STI, G37x or whatever else.

If you never go above 45 well then yea lol. My daily commute is highway driving where most cars are moving at 80-95mph.
I'm actually pretty impressed with my TSX's handling after only changing the tires and sway bar it still can't even compare to my family members G37X. The TSX understeers so much.

I didn't buy my car with an auto.

If you are considering an evo or an sti or a g37 then you have completely missed the idea of a "sleeper".

If money is the biggest concern, then I would dissuade anyone from putting money into a car.

Oh no i meant for our cars, (mine and xtcnrice) are autos.

I don't even really consider the TSX a sleeper since it LOOKS like a nice, fast car.

Let's just say I looked into getting a civic Si LSD and even with my discount it's really expensive!

I see what you're saying.

I used an mfactory lsd. It was more cost effective than the OEM unit. Mfactory supplies the diffs for hfp.

Just saying.

check the solder joins make sure they are ok and there is no part of them touching another part that shouldn't be touched. (which makes a short circuit).

I have the one's Urban Stereo ordered, they look pretty awesome at night! I've had them for 4 months, no problems yet. You also get a 1 year warranty.

So you pull up directly on the cupholder door to remove the cupholder? Will be doing the LED Cupholders.

I made a DIY on how to remove the panel, and also how to install those LED cup holder lights. You can find it in the DIY thread!

Not even close. I had a STI. It accelerates, brakes and handles head and shoulders above the TSX. As a matter of fact, the STI was more fun than my 400 hp GTO and any of my 5 F-body models 6 speed or auto.

Well obviously, but this is expected. To have a modded TSX compete with an STI and not lose is something though IMO.

Of course, you could mod the STI... that's a different story. I suppose my whole point was I think owning a TSX that can compete with cars that are already fast from the get-go, would be cooler than owning said cars. Meh, that's just me.

Oh yeah it'd be way cooler for sure... but not totally practical unless you are willing to spend major $$$ to redo EVERYTHING.

Would be really cool though.

I'm just a bit defensive because I know guys who own STIs that are constantly out picking "fights" with cars they assume would be slower than theirs. It's pretty sad actually. I just wanna see the look on their faces when a TSX or something similar unexpectedly shits on them.

I know STIs are fast.. and I'm sure hellafun to drive/own. I'd love to own one for myself. My ideal garage would be an AP2 and a GC8 RSTi conversion as a winter beater LOL.

I never even mentioned STi anywhere in my post, other then when I considered one but it was 37k+. I never even compared the TSX to the STi anywhere in my post either, so I'm not sure what your reply is about or what you're trying to say. I think you misunderstood what I was saying or meant to quote someone else.

He was referring to the post where you said you were able to keep up with WRXs in the corners.

WRX =/= STi.
My friend has the new WRX (base model).
When we enter a corner I can be right behind him; when we exit I'll be ~1 car length behind him but still right behind him. I've never had him dust me or walk me around corners.

He isn't pushing it. The car can easily outhandle and take corners faster then our TSXs.

Handling of the WRX isn't that far behind the STI. STI gives hydraulic power steering, that extra diff and a few other things though.

I tried pulling straight up and it wouldn't come out. Do you have to remove any other pieces before hand or can you do the cupholder first?

whole thing comes up as once piece... cupholder, area around the shifter and handbrake etc. pull HARD and straight, not at any angle.

Did you already order your LED cupholder thingy?

Haven't ordered it yet, tryna see how it's done first. Once I remove the center console, how do I access the armrest power source? Is it directly underneath? And do the cupholders stay illuminated the entire time?

Take things apart first. Ask questions second. Most of your questions you will be able to answer yourself once you start working on it.
