2012 tsx aspec bwp

I traded my ILX 6mt in for a brand new 2012 TSX ASPEC 6mt. I was having trouble with my back off and on and just found the TSX a little easier to get in and out of. Took a couple of thousand dollar hit on the ILX but as I got a good deal on the ILX in the first place it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I did get a good deal on the TSX, $5000 off, with the following thrown in.

Wheel locks, trunk tray, touch up paint, the TSX SE wheels with Michelin Pilot Alpin snow tires mounted as in my pics and of course the ASPEC wheels with Yokahama Advent Sport max performance tires as you can see in the great photo of ttk5`s ASPEC TSX.

I hope ttk5 doesn`t me using his pic from his for sale thread. It is the only good photo I could find with the ASPEC wheels and tires on a BWP.

ttk5`s TSX

Mine with Snows mounted on TSX SE wheels

The ILX is a great car and it was with some reluctance I made the change and a few dollars out of our pocket. I will be continuing to follow the progress in the ILX thread as well as the TSX forums.

Awesome car, you're pretty close to me as well, I'm just at coquitlam up north road. Glad to see more locals. Gorgeous car and damn I want a set of se rims for winters since 18inch winter tires are expensive.

Yes the SE rims with Michelin Pilot Alpins included helped cinch the deal. As you said the 18 inch winter tires are expensive and no way I would run the 18" with Yokohama Advent sports even in what we call winter up here.

The thing about the yokohama advan sports, are they have very poor treadwear rating. 180 I believe. They perform SO WELL, but thats the trade off.

Yes, I know they have a low tread wear rating but are supposed to be good in the dry and rain. I don't put on a ton of miles being as we are both retired. Also running snow tires November through March should help the longevity on Yoko's.

Thanks for the input on the Yoko's.

I'm confused. So this car is a Special Edition? (sure looks like one, including the wheels). When I bought my 010, My research showed that there is no A-spec package for the 2nd gen TSX. What am I missing here?

OK, got it. The Canadian version of the SE is called an A-spec. So.... never mind.

The ASPEC is only available in Canada, production of only 200. Same as US Special Edition but comes with special 18" rims and Yokohama Advent Sport max performance tires as in the first pic of ttk5's TSX. Mine also came with the SE 17" rims and Michelin Pilot Alpin snow tires which are shown on the rest of the pics.

They will remain on for another 4-5 weeks then I will switch to the 18" wheels and tires for the next 6 months.

ASPEC is pretty much the same thing as USDMs Special Edition.

ASPEC comes with ASPEC badging and 18in wheels and better tires.

aside from that, i think they are exactly the same.
oh and ASPEC doesnt get as many colors as the SE.
i think they only comes in red white and black right?

Yes the same except for the wheels and tires and ASPEC badge and comes in Black and white only. Only 200 of them made for Canada.

Congrats on your purchase. Looks very nice.

I have the same winter Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 on my stock 17" rim.

The 19" Rage rim (OEM for the Civic Type R in Europe) I got from the UK came with the same Yokohama Advan Sports tire, extremely sticky in both dry and wet weather , but won't less more than 30k km (20k miles for non-metric member). I have Hankook Evo Ventus V12 on the 19" rim now. Much more reasonable price and twice the wear rating.

I am not sure, I don't know the name of the wheels but I am sure someone does.

It is strange isn't it. We also always get heated mirrors that are not always on the US models from Acura.

Maybe this is why the TSX is so much more expensive in Canada? (I hope not.... I sure wouldn't pay extra for the ability to carry a little extra washer fluid, especially when a $2 gallon bottle in the trunk accomplishes basically the same thing)(I guess it does suck though that you actually have to check it every now and then).

Unfortunately pretty much all cars are more expensive in Canada and it sucks.

Terdonal - I was hoping you could give me some ILX vs TSX feedback. I'm looking at trading in my RSX for a 2.4L ILX or TSX Special Edition (manual).

I have not driven the 2.4L ILX, but I have driven the TSX SE w/manual and I loved it. I have a 3 y/o son and will likely have a 2nd child in the next year or so. I'm not entirely sure the ILX will be big enough for me w/2 kids, but I would like to make it work if possible (not sure if you have kids or not). I'm certain the TSX will be big enough. What I like about the ILX (in comparison to the TSX) are some of the additional features (push button start, backup camera, Pandora sync, etc.). How does the TSX compare to the ILX? I'm assuming it's a quieter/smoother ride, but what else does the TSX offer over the ILX other than more space? If not for your back, would you rather have the ILX or the TSX?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
