The pricing seems like an introductory high ball, particularly because it's a premium trim, it's still a fresh model and they need the money. I don't think they are inclined to offer bargain prices until the model becomes older and for a trim at appeals to people who expect a bargain to begin with.
People who go for the top shelf items usually aren't looking for discounts in the first place. Even the tech trim on the I4 model is a bit overpriced. The formula seems to be "sell the low trim at a discount, sell the higher trim at a higher margin"
I'm pretty sure Toyota does this with the IS350, and the TSX V6 is still a reasonable alternative to the IS350 at the current price.
If this has been a Type-S with neato pedals, colors and a manual transmission I'd be taking it seriously right now. I suspect they might still offer a Type-S for 2011 to win back some repeat Type-S business.

Yeah but wait a minute: the TL-S came w/ different dash lighting, different pedals, a different shifting transmission, different suspension, paddle shifters, quad exhaust pipes, extremely noticeable body changes, etc., etc. You could justify the higher pricing in that case, and very easily I might add...plus there was absolutely no mistaking a TL-S for a TL when it drove past you or you saw it parked.
At nearly $4,000 over that, we can now look at G37s, 328's, IS350s etc. We can get in a pissing match as to which as the better stereo, or has better this or that, but the point is that those are all serious contenders.
Also, Acura typically has less room to deal than some of the other cars - including the Nissan Maxima for instance that lists for about the same price with similar equipment and performance.
Have we seen what is going to happen to the price of the TL for 2010 now that the TSX V6 is almost as much as the 09 TL Tech?

The problem is that the car is now in the company of rear wheel drive cars that most enthusiasts prefer for a sports sedan (I certainly do). I expected the car to come in at $35,000 with Tech. At that price, it was in a class where it was a stand out.

The other issue that cannot be ingnored is simple perception. VW has been trying to come out with premium cars for the past few years. The V8 Passat and Phaeton simply died because people still percieve VW as entry level cars. While the Acura is not in exactly same same situation, the issue with a $38,000 TSX is about the same.
I have a hard time paying more for a TSX as a comparable TL cost two years ago when most cars are being heavily discounted due to the economy. I'm sure some of you will reply to this notion with logic - but emotions are as big a part of car buying decisions as logic. And emotionally, I'm having a hard to coming to grips with a $38k TSX. And I have to wonder what this big increase is going to do to resale value. Will the market two years from now embrace the cars value???

Does anyone have it confirmed yet if the V6 option is going to be available in Canada and if so what the pricing will be up here??
Due to the fact that the prices are always higher here, if the option is around $5500 USD then will the package be worth about $7500 here in Canada?? If so that will put a fully loaded 2G TSX at $50K

I could see Acura not offering the V6 up here in Canada just because of that....

wooha $38000 TSX with 5 speed auto, another 3G TL TypeS-like with refreshment.
Comon Acura u can have done better than this.
It will definiely more attractive when put I-4 turbo engine.

Back on topic... I think the TSX V6 will be more compelling once the hi-res nav system from the TL shows up. The first time I saw it in action it made the system in the TSX seem outdated. Even the graphics on the $150 Nuvi I just bought make the TSX's system seem outdated (though the TSX does more gee-whiz stuff).

Autoblog's "first drive" reviews are often a lot more favorable than their final reviews, so I'd take any initial impressions with a grain of salt for now.
One thing's for sure though: I like those 18"s a lot. Do they fit on an '06?
In short: drive this car like it's a TSX with more power and better dynamics – not like it's a Lotus Elise – and you'll get a fabulously put together package that comes standard with a bucket of kit. If you want a TSX with more power, you've got that and more with this model. And if you're looking for an Acura that handles enthusiastically enough to seriously play on the same pitch as the three gatekeepers of the entry-level premium segment (3, C, and A), here you are. And you'll get it for less coin than those other cars: base base MSRP is $34,850 plus $810 destination and, if you're game, $3,100 for the Technology Package. That money will also save you money: you'll get better gas mileage than those other cars as well.
