Problem with coilover install

I got my Tein basics installed yesterday, seemed pretty straight foward. My freind is a mechanic so he did most of the install while I assisted when needed. The front went on without a hitch. The back we thought went on correctly, but upon lowering the car to start adjusting, the coilover seemed to be pushing up on the cover behind the seat ( where the sub woofer cover is) that area. You actually saw the threads of the coilover trying break the cover and on one side it did. Basically everything is loose back there. It's really squeaky, we left it as is becuase I had to go to work. When we bring the back down, you see that back cover area trying to lift up. Any ideas or directions...

just make sure you tighten the nuts on the top hat and the holes real good . I have never had a problem with the bolt poppin up and i have lowered my car twice, once with H-tech then switched to basics.

Humm...
The top screw is supposed to come through the hole. But popping up high enough to push up the rear deck, interesting.
I would check that the spring is set on the perch correctly and at the right spot, check the tightness of the top bolt (not overtightened), also torque the top nuts holding the suspension to the car. Make sure all the parts are there. Like you're not missing something as simple as a washer holding the coilover in place. Because for it to poke through the rear deck, which is quite a distance from the top of the coilover, is strange.

P.S. -- All the more reason to go SS' w/ pillowball mounts.

Yeah it looks something like that but its moving around. Like its not in place. We're gonna continue tomorrow I guess. It has to be something minor considering both sides are doing it.

I would venture to say you forgot #2 like Kris said. I can almost guarantee it. Or maybe #1 too. You have to remove both washers from the stock strut and put them on the TEIN's. Make sure the shaft isn't damaged either when you pull it apart b/c if it is when the shaft compresses into the damper it will slit the seals and you will need a new damper. Also stop driving the car. It is not safe to drive with it like that.

the squeaks may be the coils rubbing together. See if it goes away with time. If not you can buy the rubber isolaters from the MDX and slip them on the coils to stop it

Cool. I noticed the top bolt under the hood was tight but still had some turns to go, I gave them a turn and the squeeks were gone. I opened up the hood, bounced it and isolated it to the passenger side. Bounced it again and drove it and silence. Hopefully this is done and I can enjoy the teins.

you remove the rear seat to access the rear shock tops
The shock bolts are just under the rear deck next to the speakers

Feel on edge of seats for bolts at end, near the center of the seat feel for 2 bolts offset from center, and the bottem has 2 clips the drop in to secure it in the front edge -on my 01 TL
