maybe this will help a lot people out. I'm one that finds it hard to determine what offset to choose. I found a site that lets you compare basically your factory offset to whatever rim/tire package you want. It give more of a visual picture of what you are getting into. Maybe it'll help

I've had a problem with one of my tires slowly leaking and I've taken the tire in and its not the tire so I'm thinking there is a problem with the rim. Which means this is a good time to just get some new ones but I want to be able to use the tires that I have now as they are brand new. I found some rims that are 17x7 with 50mm offset, will there be any problem with this on a 03 TL S? And will the tires I currently have that are for the stock rims work with these rims?
Thanks
Thanks

Can anyone help me with this fitment, or what I need to do to make these wheels fit?
Verde Protocol Wheels
18x7.5
+40 offset
5x114.3 ------- (I'm pretty sure this is the bolt pattern the guy is selling)
I'm I were to drop them on springs that were either
2.1F ---- 1.6R
1.75F --- 1.5R
Which would be best not to rub!?
Thanks for the help

Do NOT use 225/55/17 on the OEM 17" rims -- that is over 5% over the circumference of 215/50/17. Most places do not recommend exceeding +/- 3% of what the OEM spec is.
So ... you can use a tire size calculator online to find an acceptable size. Some may suggest 235/45/17 (beefy but some installers will not install such a wide tire on a narrow rim ... OEM TL-S rims are 6" in width). You could get away with a 225/50/17 tire.
Good luck.

Quick question plz
I am thinking about getting Volk CE28n 18 x 7.5 +42 offset
tires are Dunlop SP SPORT FM901
225/40zr18 90w.
Are these going to be wider than the stock 2007 tl s rims? I auto cross my car and i want to have a wider rim. I read somewhere else that our s type rims 6.5 inches wide is this also true?
Thank YOu

hi, i was wondering if i would be okay running 225/45/18 on 18x8 +45 on stock suspension. no plans on lowering and would much prefer this over a 225/40 set up if i can get away without rubbing. i usually carry 1-3 passengers.

the 2nd number is the sidewall aspect ratio. the tire wont be any wider. You may run into the rear rubbing on the bumper tab, but that can be trimmed with knife in about 2 min.

thanks for the quick reply. i know what the tire specs mean, just wanted the 45 aspect to fill a bit of the wheel gap since i won't be lowering. the extra sidewall wouldn't hurt too, the roads are terrible in my city. i was watching the news the other day and the largest pot hole found so far is about 5ft long and 6" at the deepest point.

this thread was very useful. I just bought an 01 Pearl White TL. I will be using it as a daily, but wanted to put some wheels on it. didnt want anything too big, so i am going with 17x7.5 with +40 offset. 225/55/17 for tires.
anyone know of springs that would set it down about an inch lower than stock? dont want anything too aggresive.. thanks

2002 WDP 3.2
19x8.5 Front +35 on 225/35/19
19x9.5 Rear +40 on 245/35/19
Tein SS all the way down in front. Can I get away with only Rolling and trimming or will fender pulling be required?

just got my wheels and tires on and had to trim the bumper tabs.
17x7.5 +45 w/ 215-55-17 tires.
i opted for more sidewall with the 55 tires for ride comfort. I havent personally driven it but my brother said it still rides well. I am now looking to get the H&R springs 3/4" front 1/2" rear to set the stance just to my liking

Not that anyone posts in this thread, but I'm going for this + spacers (5mm or less...) + 225/40/18
I like the look of this: https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...5&postcount=56
...though I'm not sure what all he needed to do to the fenders.

"18x9.5 offset 45 theres also 18x9 offset 35 or 8.5 40"
9 is possible..
my rear is 18x9 +37??? it sticks out about.... 1/4inch?? right now, its pretty flush with some amounts of neg.. but you can.. 18x9 +35 with some stretch on the tires..
18x8.5 +40 would be FLUSH!! 19x8.5 +46 were my GT-V and those were a little weak for me..
18x9.5 +45 will probably be flush too..
for all of those, most work is roll the rears and front.. probably cut tabs too.

you might have a problem with them rubbing against your struts..
i had my 9.5 +36 rubbing on the insides of my strut but that was with negative camber... imagine 9.5 +43 with less camber.. i'd still rub.. soo..
9 with +50.. you're bound to rub the struts most likely...
you should:
A) look into getting 10mm spacers for the rears and probably the fronts as well
B) look for another set.
and... if you're doing 225/40 in the front.. i'd match it and do 245/40
but even better.. 215/40 and 225/40 those suckers. =]
lol..
awesome wheels nonetheless.

Well I guess I had my question answered then....Thanks Admin Ron A. You are right under these circumstances I don't feel overly welcomed to the forum however I did bring it on myself. It is all good I wasn't sure of the rules or where to post so I did indeed get my answer. Just hate to scrap out a perfectly good RIM you know especially when they are so expensive and someone could get a heck of a deal.

I just need some confirmation from the experts that this scenario won't cause me any problems.
2003 TL with 16 inch wheels. I believe the OEM tire size is 205-60-16. I have the chance to get some snow tires for really cheap (ie. Free) but they are 215-55-16.
Will these fit on the OEM wheels without any issues?
They are only marginally wider, but would I have any rubbing issues?
