Eibach Prokit & Front Bumpstop on tl-s shocks...

ive seen a bunch of "bumpstop" threads, and they all say cut them by 1/2... but the front bumpstop looks like its molded into the black cover that slides on the shock.

did anyone take the entire thing off? cut the entire black cover, or do nothing with it and left it on?

On my 96 Accord V6, I cut the recommended amount off only because the bumpstop was separate and by itself.

But on my 03 TL-S, I saw the same thing you did. It would appear that trimming the cover would split it in two, so I didn't cut it. But I'm only riding on Tein H-Tech's, so I don't really think I needed to cut them. If it was S-Tech's or something lower, I dunno...

i cut the middle section out and taped the two peices together with electrical tape.

if your going pro kit don't use the stock shocks. i was riding on them for a week and the rears blew out. and the fronts are on their way out too.

i ordered tokicos and i can't wait to have them on.

thanks for the info... if they do blow im just going to get a full coilover suspension. is i true that all the 98-02 accord coilovers are interchangable with the tl? cause omnipower makes them for the accord, and ive seen people sell the same part# as a tl suspension.

also, if i get an aftermarket coilover, do the top hats have the extra 2 bolts for the stock strut bar? or do we just have to lose the bar when an aftermarket suspension is installed?

Just put a pair of eibach pros on my 02 tl-s. The bumpstops are under the black cover. They are not attatched. I cut a little over 1/2" per the instructions.

I just got my Tokicos and H-tech springs installed today. The REAR bumpstops are under the black dust cover. The FRONT ones are attached just as
stRodda stated. I was concerned about the ride hieght, but I guess that the bumpstop doesn't effect that, so I did not cut the front bumpstops too.

since the bumpstops weren't cut your gonna get some bottoming out. the guys at tokico said that could lead to bad thing, didn't go in to details but they said that i would have to cut them.

if your not getting new struts i think your wasting your money. just go with the coilovers or get a new pair of struts from the begining. im kicking my self in the ass now cause i don't want to do this all over again. yet it should go better then last time did.

I don't understand why not cutting the bumpstop would lead to bottoming out. Think about it. There will be more of a cushion if you didn't cut it. I think they may have meant if you didn't reinstall the bumpstops at all. That would be a serious problem.

well if your compressing the shocks further then stock there is going to be less travel before the shock hits the bump stop. so the shocks could be bottoming out on the bumpstop on every day driving and limiting the travel of the shock. the bump stop doesn't all that much give to it, but it is better then hitting metal to metal.

they tell you to cut the stops because of this. the rear bump stops are pretty damn long. the fronts are not as long.

once you get a big load in the back i bet you will feel the rear bottoming out.

I have the pro kit on my car right now, I have had it on with stock shocks for about 5 months or more.
