blown struts
An economical way to go is to use Tokico Blues with H&R springs.
Coilovers provide the best of both worlds -- some are more adjustable than others (eg Tein Basic VS Tein SuperStreet VS Apexi ... etc) but depending on where you live (ie bad winters) -- they might not be as durable as a spring / strut combo. (ie threading on coilovers may rust over time)
I was torn between Tein springs+Koni Yellows VS Tein SS coilovers. My silver powdercoated Comptech springs started rusting so I needed replacements. The deciding factor for me was how much salt they use where I live in the winter ... I've heard the threading of the Tein coilovers don't do well with prolonged salt exposure. Both options have pros/cons and since my car is a daily driver, I went with durability as a main priority.

so what did you choose.. ? i'm going through the same thing..
i live in new england and we have bad winters... but i want a smooth and comfotable ride being that my car is a daily driver...
Definetly get them done at the same time. I installed Tein Springs about 3 months ago, and after putting on 5K miles, I just blew out my OEM Struts. I'll be installing Tokico Blues pretty Soon.
If I would have just installed them with my springs, I would have saved about $250 in installing cost.

you will save the labor if you do them at the same time, but my stock struts have 88k miles on them with the last 15k with the Comptech drop, and they are still fine - so the stock struts will last a long time in most situations.

i went with coilovers, i live in ontario, canada where the winters are harsh, if u do live in a winter climate, clean them regularly at carwashes with power wash, everywinter grease em with water repellant grease, and it does help a lot
take it all apart and give it a good cleaning, i did that when i bought them used from another member, theres many diff kinds of lube/grease that is water resistant, and works good in the winter time
