another coilover thread...

I need help with a dilemma Im having. If you had the opportunity to buy either:

Tein Basic w/shorter springs - lightly used

Function & Form Type 1 - brand new

Which would you choose?

Both are more or less same exact price (Teins might be like $25 less). And as far as i know, both can slam the car to the floor. But with Tein Id have to use my own top hats, which I know isnt a pain to install like regular shocks and springs are (no spring compressor needed) but yeah.

how much are you willing to spend on a set?

cause i know civicdrivr is extremely happy with his AMR coilover, which every set gets custom valved/built for the owner

and it's also the brand i want a set of

if you're looking to slam or go lower than the normal spring drop, i'd definitely go for Function & Form Type-I over Tein Basics anyday.

or as a matter of fact.. i'd go full coilover over Tein Basics

if you plan on tucking, i'd suggest getting rear camber kits

no camber kits for me yet. i havent even gotten an alignment yet

there is a DIY for front/rear camber kit somewhere right? is it difficult to do?

btw little update on the ride:

it is a lot stiffer than OEM but i have gotten used to it and have grown to liking it very much.

yeah its pretty bumpy. some bumps and dips can really jar your spine quite a bit. but for the amount of 'low' that you can go, i think they did a great job on the ride.

thats on city streets though. i dont know if you drive on the highway (any highway other than in the 5 boroughs) a lot but it was very smooth and comfortable on the LIE in Nassau and Suffolk county.

my problem with the stiffness is the highway. Up in Albany, every quarter mile or so the vibration is annoying.

but thats the price you pay for looking good!

I never had front camber kits.. but if you don't like that whole natural negative camber when you go lower, then you can get a set.
