05 TL rims on a 00 TL

Hello people, this is my first time posting as i am a new member. I bought this car recently, its a gold 2000 acura tl and got a really good deal on it, along with 05 acura TL rims, i had the 05 rims on the car for about 2 months, and noticed they stick out of the fenders a bit too much. just the other day i blew a tire and decided i am going to change all the tires on those rims as well as refinish the rims, maybe even in a different colour. Ive seen these rims on accords and other tl's of the same year and noticed they do not stick out of the fenders. can anyone tell me what i can do to fix this problem? ive heard of boreing the rims out and also a different tire size. any help would be appreciated thanks.

boring the rims out is to fit larger hub centers, you really don't have to do that. Since they stick out, you should lower it and it will camber in a bit. it should look good. you could also run less wide tires, since stock is 235, you could put 225s on them.

Welcome to the forum
There is Nothing you can do to get them further in. Its part of the design of the wheel called offset.Smaller tires (like a 225) might help some. Just get different wheels that fit better is my advise.

you can try shaving the the wheels but thats not safe.. haha.

makes the wheel a bit weaker in durability.

i was told to use 215-45-17 tires in the front and 225-45-17 in the back.. dont know if this will work, but the original tire size for these rims are 235-45-17. any help? i found a set of 225-45-17 michelin tires for $300 and they are practically brand new. what should i do?

Yes it will be safe but your speedo will be off. Stock size is 215/50

don't mill the offset, that will dramatically weaken the lug nut seat and potentially cause the wheel to come off when driving.

x2, I was gonna do he same thing, but yes, it is potentially dangerous, so im not. Im just gonna go to a 215 in the front and 225 in the rear on my 06 17's on my 99.

Yea for something like this I much rather be safe than sorry. Also The staggered tire setup got me scratching my head.

Like Kris said it will throw off the speedo and your mileage could read incorrect.

If that doesn't bother you than by all means get the wheels with some nice meat and have the car looking good.

there is no point in running a 215 front, and a 225 rear...i dont understand that decision at all.
