Wtf Is Wong With My Ebc And Rotara Setup?!?

Ok Heres the run down:

Had Stock Rotors resurfaced and put EBC Green Stuff Pads - Worked great for a couple of months. Then the problems started.

I started to get a squealing noise not when I braked but when I was driving and when I applied the brake the sound would go away!! WTF!! Couple of people told me it was my rotors so I bought and replaced them just last night with Rotora Slotted rotors as per recommendation here on this board.

Now still same noise and squeal but louder at times. Took it into a shop they are scratching their heads and don't know what it is. One thing they suspect is due to my f'n retardedness I applied the stop squeal stuff in between the shimmy and the pad (I know don't ask, I'm no pro). So the extra layering they suspect might cause the pad to be protruding a bit abrasing the rotor slightly while in motion.

They were going to install some Wagner pads on the rotor, as they dont need shims, and sell them to me to try it out, I refused and decided to write this to see what you guys think.

Also btw, the squealing is only comming or predominantly comming from the front passenger side and not the rest. The guys first tried to blame it on aftermarket equipt. and then said slotted rotors are known to do that which we all know is not the case.

Used the search feature and everyone reports problems that are totally opposite to mine.

First of all, EBC pads are too hard for stock rotors. The pads will scorch and cut grooves into the rotors rendering them useless.

If the pad is protruding a bit rubbing the rotor slightly, you shouldn't need to worry about it because the extra protrusion will be smoothen out after the rotor break-in period.

But if the pad is already screwed up by the stock rotor, then buying a new set of pads is the only way to go.

Speaking of bedding the pads....I just ordered the Brembo vented solid disks and the Akibono ceramic pads.
The tech info said to break them in softly for the first 300-400 miles....Does this sound right to you???
Anything I should know for the installation or is it a stock swop??

I bed the pads in when I installed them originally, not after i installed the new rotors last night. I thought I was suppose to wait a bit? And you guys think I should buy new pads to solve this?

seems like a lot of people with the EBC pads complain about noise with them. I think they are just too hard for most - I would stick with OEM pads if you want quiet. I think the OEM setup is just fine, if the rotors were not so shitty. Im going to get some aftermarket front rotors pretty soon and new stock pads all around, and hopefully never have to mess with the brakes again.

yes you should wait, but i was just wondering since its just 1 causing it, if you did it on the last rotors. Doing so may have seated 1 improperly.

I also ordered the EBC green stuff pads and hated them, they made all types of wierd noises, and they did chew up my slotted rotor also, so i got rid of them 1 month in and put some aikebono pads in, the best pads i have ever used, will not use anything else!!

The EBC greenstuff feels harder than the Axxis Ultimate, but much, much cleaner in terms of brake dust. The EBC also make more brake noise than the Axxis, especially during full-stop to start-going initial brake release and slow-down to full-stop brake application, possibly due to its harder compound.

I USED POWERSLOT & EBC. FRONT DRIVER SIDE DID MAKE NOISE FOR MAYBE 500 MILE GIVE OR TAKE BUT AFTER THAT NO PROBLEMS..HOW MANY MILES HAVE PUT ON THE PADS? I WOULDNT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY TILL YOU AT LEAST TRY TO BREAK THEM IN.

Ok Update: I just removed the shims off the pads and applied some antisqueal on the back of the pads, and installed them. Basically didn't put the shims back on and So far no weird noise, however now I am confronted with slight sporadic squealing when I brake.

I think I should probablly put the shims back on and apply the antisqueal on the back of the shims cuz it might be cuz of not having the shims right? Ne other suggestions?

i never installed teh shims on mine and mine were fine. give the brakes some tim to try to seat to your new rotors. EBC will tell you that durring breakin they can cause noise. Untill they seat to the rotor they may cause noise. Get a few hundred on the rotors, then try bedding the pads in.
