Why is my Mantanience Req'd Light staying on?
Its been on for about 3 weeks. i had took it for an oil change the next day the light was blinking so 7days later (cuz i had to work) i took it to the other location they reset the light and said they checked the oil it was fine. So the following day the light comes back on but now its staying on. If the oil is fine and jus newly changed what else could cause this to come on, and stay on?

It's a dummy light. You have to reset it after each service.
Car turned off.
Push and hold the trip and reset buttons in, then while holding them in turn the key to the run position (just before start).
Continue holding them till the Maint req lite goes off (about 10 seconds)

it never did that before, is it possible for it to just become a dummy light after NOT being one for almost 9 years??

Have you done it yourself- never trusting anyone to do it correctly!
and we are talking about a maitenance light?- NOT the CEL Check Engine Light

get in the driver seat- put key in ignition- reach thru steering wheel with left hand and press and HOLD both trip A and B buttons IN
Turn key to ON- but not all the way to Start
The mait. light will begin blinking for several seconds, then goes out
Turn key OFF
You have now reset the Oil Change Reminder,,, resets for 7500 miles.
It will start flashing when first starting car, at about 6500 miles, and get more insistant as it reaches 7500.

What is the reason that the maintenance req'd light comes on? Is it simply to tell you to that its time for a scheduled maintenance check up? AKA pay a ton of money by taking it to an Acura dealership?

No, It blinks when you first turn on your car on, around 6K miles, and stays on from 7K miles on. It just for a oil change, Thats it.

Simply for oil changes. Its supposed to be reset at every oil change and is the reminder to have it changed.

yes- it goes off mileage since reset-
it doesnt know anything about the oils condition- on gen2
many owners who changed oil early may never have seen the light, or not noticed it

Three Wheelin'
There are no sensors that check the quality of the oil. The computer maps many factors such as engine temp, driving conditions and run times against an Acura estimation on oil life with such variables. It then tells you it thinks the oils done.
It would be VERY expensive, if not impossible, to actually know the state of the oil in the motor.
In our 05 RL it comes on but we ignore it for some time because it seems to be biased to early replacement. There is no way to adjust it. Bad system in my opinion.
