Mine runs just like it did when I drove it home from the dealer in late 2000. Rob, maybe you should check with a mechanic, instead of posting it on youtube???

Whats this about the 1999 4 speeds, are they supposed to last longer? I thought all the trannys were hopeless...

How do we know if the tranny is a 4 speeds? I don't know much about car, but my 99 TL has auto and manual tranny. 150k and still running smooth.

You have a 4 spd auto. 99s have 4spd and 00-03 have 5spds.

You can also tell by looking at the gear slector. 4 spds go up to D4 and 5 spds go up to D5.

I've got 316200kms on mine on the original transmission. Unfortunately, the transimission seems to be going and I think I will need to have it replaced soon.

That's 196,478 miles for those of us in the US.

That's a great run for the original transmission. What year is your TL?

140,020 miles 2003TL

My TL has 140,020 miles. No transmission problems knock on wood (they replaced it with the recall). I had 60,000 when the recall came out. I'm feeling pretty good about it. I should be able to get about 400K easy. Its got new timing belt, water pump, new headlights (which were expensive as hell), tires, regular oil changes, other parts I change out myself. Still feels new! Still drives new!

I love it.

2000 with 189K - motor as strong as ever. Mobil 1 every 10K - add about 1/4 qt at 8K.

currently 3rd tranny
80K
165K

Love the car, as much as I would like a gen 3 six speed it's nice having no payments.

265k miles on my 99 TL

Bought with 261k with vss not working and D4 flashing

Would only start in 2nd and shift to 4th

Fixed it myself and now vss works great and no MIL !

I believe trans is original and not rebuilt, it has no blue bolts on it.

Hope to go at least 350k with it! yay

^ two impressive ones there! Feel like mine at 172k is still somewhat a youngster
This gen TL is pretty durable- and I suppose the first gen as well- I had a 98 2.5l with 260k.
Somewhat similar in reliability to the early 90s accords. They do have their common faults (the trans obviously the largest), but they can go a long way when properly cared for.

310,000 miles on a 2000 TL. The trans went out at 105,000 miles. Since then I have not touched the trans oil. Mobil 1 synthetic for the engine. I have changed brakes & rotors obviously, all four wheel bearings and various suspension parts.

You haven't replaced the atf in over 200k miles? That is very questionable and is very poor maintenance for the trans. I am very surprised the 2nd trans has not had problems.

i have 171k on my tl, but its a salvage and i am waiting for a check to come in so i can fix it the rest of the way. Its not really driveable atm due to the wheel bearing being fucked up. My inspection is due next month and it seems my sensors are messed up right now.

transmission is fine.... i've been driving my dads car to college and hes been taking my car to work (16 miles total a day for him to get to work) (like 85miles a day to college and back)

I don't think hes been really taking good care of my car though Last time i drove it i noticed he left a window down and it rained as well as the fact that he put barely any gas in my car and probably hasn't been putting in the correct gas like i tell him to.

^^^ Check for blue paint on the tranny's mounting bolts.
Check your VIN # with your local Acura dealership, they'll be able to tell ya if the tranny was replaced at recall.

While not the highest mileage on here (I see a post of someone with 404k miles and there are probably others that are higher), I'm at 322k miles and counting. 3rd tranny (this one being an AV6, so it should last).
