What's this shat on my car?

Well it was a sunny and warm day here so I decided to wash my car and procrastinate from finals :P I'm at school so I park ouside, half the time under a roof and the other not. I've been busy lately so today was the first time I washed my car in 6 weeks. So i went to a local self-wash place and washed my car with my own wash (meguiar's nxt generation car wash) and microfiber towel... i started off with my trunklid and this was the first thing i noticed after getting the dust and dirt off...

... and i'm like

I scrubbed really hard, but it was apparently futile. those pictures are after i washed and dried my car :/

when i run my fingers over these brown spots, i don't feel anything :/

i always wax my car after i wash it, but i didnt wax it this time cuz im waiting to get this crap off

do you guys know what it is? could it be tree sap? i always avoid parking under or near trees.

Looks like what is commonly knows as rail dust. Use clay bar or 3M Scratch-x. It will come off.
