Weak bass in stock TL stereo

Has anyone else noticed the bass being surprisingly weak in the stock system, even when maxed out? I have a 2001 TL with the stock Bose CD/Tape stereo. My 1995 Nissan Maxima had a stock Bose stereo in it and the bass was WAY more powerful, so I'm a little confused. Perhaps an amp went bad? I have no idea. Any help is appreciated!

Nothing is wrong with your stereo system. That is how the stock system and bass is.

The stock bass is normally incredibly low? I find this hard to believe, seeing that it is a Bose system and a stock Bose system that is 6 years older (although in a Nissan Maxima) pumps out an enormous amount more of bass.

Have you looked at the bass settings? Crank it to the max and see if it is better; check Balance and Fading. Our bose sound system is not that great; compare to lexus, I thought, just like you, as if our bose system is broken or not working properly, but that is how it is.

Yes, I have tried adjusting the Balance and Fading, and I have cranked the Bass to the max, and it still sounds like crap. Even the stock system in my old 2002 Dodge Stratus was better!

I wonder what the best option is for getting more bass. Maybe a new amp? A new sub? Both?

Oh yeah, and I just remembered that the stock Bose system in my friend's 1989 Nissan Maxima cranks out a lot more bass, too.

First off............. No Highs No Lows must be BLOZ!!!

That said, is the sub in the rear deck working? Can you physically hear it? 2nd option is a smaller (150-300) aftermarket amp and drive the sub with that. Mine sounds 300% better that way.

I can definitely hear the difference when I adjust the bass, but the max setting sounds more like a very low setting.

As for the 150-300 amp, do you have any to recommend? Does that mean there will be less power going to the sub?

No, you'll be getting MORE power to the sub. Stock power is weak, less than 100W most likely. I went a little different by adding an Infinity Basslink and I'm currently running it in tandem with the stock sub. A few people have recommended that I disconnect the stock sub so it'll sound better. To me it sounds good right now but I'll have to try disconnecting the stock one to see if it does sound better.

My suspicion is that something is wrong with it. I don't think it's blown, because there is a clear difference when adjusting the bass and there's no buzzing or rattling. Also, I hooked up my iPod yesterday using the tape deck adapter and when I used the "bass boost" option on the iPod itself, there was significantly more bass, and still no buzzing or rattling. Maybe I just need a better EQ?

Get a new deck I picked up a Pioneer D3 and I noticed a huge difference in audio quality. I really brings out the life in the Bose speakers. It's truly a night and day difference.

I busted my sub in the rear and noticed a huge difference in the sound. Prior to it going 'offline' my system had more then enough bass to listen to and enjoy.

Now if you want to be one of those kids who's trunks buzz, you'll need to add something.
