turning the alarm off without the remote
I tried turning off the alarm without the remote by putting the key in the driver door and unlocking and locking it but it doesnt seem to work. Is there a way to turn the alarm off without completely disarming it or using a remote.
Thanks

why do you say it didnt work? the key will disarm it
did you open the driver door and the alarm triggered?
If the red light on the door is not flashing- the alarm is off

The horn sounds and a combination of headlights, parking lights, side marker lights and taillights flashes if someone attempts to break into your car or remove the radio. This alarm continues for two minutes, then the system resets. To reset an alarming system before the two minutes have elapsed, unlock either door with the key or the remote transmitter.
It sounds like you may have a fault at the door lock.

the valet key wont let them into the glovebox or thru the rear seat pass thru assuming you locked both of them with the real key
you need to engage the trunk lockout inside glovebox for full protection in valet parking

I'm pretty sure you can't without the remote. But you could try putting the key in the door and holding it in the unlock position - ordinarily that will unlock all 4 doors after 1-2 seconds - maybe it will turn off the alarm?

I have an issue with some sort of parasitic drain on my battery, causing it to run down if I don't use the car for a couple days. When I connect jumper cables to the car, the alarm goes off. Putting the key in the door and locking/unlocking it stops the alarm (my remote doesn't work). If the OP's car doesn't work that way, there's likely another issue, either with the key or the lock.
