Trany problem/question.

Hey everyone, i have 99 Tl @137k miles, i have a jerky transmission i saved some cash and i can get a new trany, also im asking if the trany from 2000 TL will fit my 99 TL and if i need to mess around with ECU to make it compatible or i can just drop it in?

first of all try changing the trany fluid with atf dw-1. see if it helps... and forget 2000 tl trany because they are less reliable compared to 99 tl 4speed ones. if you have extra cash either do 6speed swap like our other members are doing right now!!!

Honda odyssey 99-01 will bolt right in but needs a hole drilled to work right.

Since you are a big azz noob and only 18 i will help you. Use the search button, put in "6 speed" select 2nd gen TL and hit search. It will give you ALL sorts of info.

Yes, it will bolt right up. NO you cant get a remapped ECU (no such thing or way to do it) You need to buy the Richie module.

ok i had understood that if i do the trany swap only it will work but the engine will not make it to the end and its cheaper, if i do the engine swap with the trany it will cost me more but the end result will satisfy you more, my other question if I was to do the j32a2 engine swap with the trany what would be like the cost im looking at with labor?

What do you mean the engine wont make it to the end??

I dont know. I havent seen anyone pay for someone to do it. Labor varies from shop to shop. If i had to guess im sure 2-5k depending on location and shop just for labor.

thats some made up info

Keep up the oil changes and water pump- timing belt replacement
adjust the valves and run it

200kmiles is nothing to these engines

fsttyms1 had a 2000 type P engine, and got a newer type S with the 6speed = 35 more engine hp

I dont know where you possibly read that the motor would die sooner with the 6 speed as that is a bunch of false info. manual or auto wouldnt make the motor die sooner.

Oh, and You can find type-s motor s for 500 or so used
