Talking Which car should I get?

In the near future I will need to buy a new car soon, so far on my list I had enough with the famous 98-03 Acura/Honda Crapomatic trany, but I hear from 04 and up they had fixed the trany problem is this correct? I am now owner of a 99 AV6 (Accord V6) and my dad also own an 00 TL but I want to move to some thing new and I had serveral cars in mind and I also knew that this is the TL forum so probally TL would be the choice, but don't worry my car choice won't be too much of a difference (because they all are Honda J series motor anyway). Here are the short list of those cars I had thinked so far.

1. 03-07 Honda Accord coupe V6 6spd.
Pro: I like the HFP lip kit and cheap regular gas with an 03 you can have mp3 compatible, dual climate controller etc.. 150lbs lighter than the CLS.

Con: The handling isn't that great if compre to a 03 CLS or TLS, No header tunning.

2. 03 CLS 6spd
Pro: I has impressive 260 HP with better TQ and most of the mod in my Accord can transfer over to the CLS, handling better in corner, LSD in the trany,

Con: Premium gas only, doesn't have any OEM lip kit (I just not into those after market lip kit), price are ussually around $14000 for a good one (pricey)

3. 02-03 TLS or 04 TL
Pro: Either 260 or 270 HP but the AT trany scare the sh*t out of me lol . Great for family car and it handling better than an accord too, sharp looking OEM lip kit.

Con: AT trany nightmare, again over again, premium gas.

But I do aware of that Sycro problem in the 6spd trany(dam Honda engineering they screw up either or) So if I have a budget around $13K which car should be the best choice here? Also I hear that 02-03 TLS accutally faster than an 04 TL AT is this statement true? Thank for all the reply and all opinion will be appriciate.

accord coupe v6 6mt hands down.

CL-S 6 if you can find one..

TL-S and convert it to 6-speed.

That'll solve the AT scare.

Yup but a TLS conver to 6spd you will need ECU, CL fly wheel + clutch, gauge and all of the wiring harness (since your car more complicated than my 6th gen accord because there are a by pass harness for all of that ), my machanic level not the greatest so I just can't DIM (Do It My self). But if I really need a car then I would probally get the 03 TLS but It has to be either in blue or black lol,

Get the 04 with the 6spd or the CL with the 6sp if you can.

If you don't buy an AV6 6mt, or CL-S 6mt, don't be scared of the auto CL/TL-S if the tranny was replaced after feb of 05. Some 02-and 03's are still under warranty anyway.

It's more important to find a car in good condition with average mileage that had all it's required maintence done. Once any of these cars get to the 80k+ mileage they need plugs, timing belt, waterpump service between 90-100k. See if that was done, and if not factor it into the price.

Personally if I had to do it all over again I'd still get my 03 TL-S out of what you have posted. I love the Accord and CL 6mt but I commute and the 6spd is annoying, but it's so much fun, and quite a bit faster than the auto versions.

The CL-S 6mt is my choice if you are looking for something 6mt. The 04-05 TL's also have the same problem with the auto tranny. Only transmissions that are made/installed after 2/05 are "fixed"

03 CL-S for me.... and its not a dealbreaker or anything but do the 6-speed Accords have LSD trannys too?

Close 2nd for the AV6 coupe, I prefer the 06+ more but I think they'd cost more than a CL-S6

I say try for the 04TL with the 6MT. I think this would work just fine.

^ what happend to your saber?

Yea the accord does not have LSD but still nice IMO.

The 3rd gen TL's should be taken into consideration too. They have the LSD.

They're plenty of black and blue cars out there. Hope you find what you are looking for.

04+ TL would be great, but I haven't seen any under 15,000 except for one on craigslist

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/806050323.html

relatively high miles, I don't think RRP (?) is that bad, but its not exactly the most sought-after color either. It is a 6MT though. my point is the OP's price range was 13,000

If you can wait out, I would wait for the 04 TL 6sp to drop in price a little. Anytime a new body style comes out, the current one depreciates more and that is about to hit the 3rd gen TL's. I am waiting until about Feb to get mine; will probably save some decent cash

I'd go with the 03-07 AV6 6spd.

I absolutely love mine (see sig below) and although it's true there is no headers for it there are a few people making a high flow J-Pipe, which is basically the same thing or as close as you can get to headers. There is the lack of lsd issue but with some upgraded rubber and a engine torque damper traction becomes easier to find in an AV6. And being a previous owner of a CL-S I can honestly tell you the handling is near identical if not a slight advantage to the AV6 due to it being lighter. Either way they're both somewhat heavy FWD cars so there's significant body roll in both vehicles but they're cushy when traveling down the highway, it's a trade off.

I was in the market for a CL-S6 after my auto tranny went in my 03 CL-S but there was only one in a 200 mile radius of where I live and it was in pretty rough shape yet was nearly the same price as the Accord. It also had 20k more miles on it than the Accord and wasn't CPO'd. You're going to get more for your money with the Accord since there's no badge premium being that it's a Honda. The AV6 does have slightly less options/luxuries than the CL-S but still has 90% of the same features as the CL/TL.

thanks for the replies guys, here is my biggest pet peeve. If I get a 04+TL or AV6 6spd then it color must be black or blue with Navi equiped, I can find a nice 04 TL around NYC about $17K with 6spd. However I had my eyes on this 03 AV6 6spd MT, it has 85K miles, foglight, blue in black leather, and some thing that make me happy, it has Navi. And the price tag is $12800 that is a dam good price, BTW when I bought car I need to make sure I have enough money to pay in full lol no finance for me... I am aware of the J-shift made by Richie but I am into more 1/4 mile speed than luxury, I saw a video on you tube with an 04 AV6 6spd does 14.3 while a CLS does 14.5. Again I think it most likely a decision between CLS or AV6, because TL are way too pricey for me.

I've got a CLS 6spd, and I agree w/ StormTrooper, get a Accord V6 6mt coupe...

I almost waited till 03 when the Accord 6mt coupes were coming out, but decided to grab a CL in oct 02 instead...

The Accord is newer, lighter, and has more aftermarket support...

If you HAVE to have navi, then forget about a CL 6spd, you'll be looking for awhile, since they only made 820 w/ navi... and only 305 of those in black or blue...

Accord based it looks better than the CLS and probably easier on gas.
