transmission -pcm anybody

I have an 03 and my transmission went up. Do i need a new powertrain control module with transmission? The dealer says i do but i'm not so sure. its an extra 1000 and i would rather not if i dont need it.

The new PCM is recalibrated and should be (if this is your first failure)
