Tranny rebuilt, won't down shift when cold

Ive had a guy with a good local reputation rebuild my trans twice in one year. He just redid it again.

The problems I've had have been that when it's cold & I pull out of the driveway it up shifts fine, but will not down shift within the first several miles. Its like it's in neutral. I have to pull the shifter into low to get it to engage.

The other problem that is on a longer trip after a couple hours it tried to down shift @ 70 it went to second gear & puked fluid. Once I filled it back up it drove fine back home till he could look at it.

Now that he just rebuilt it with new converter it still goes to nuetral when first driving. Is there a valve body fix? He's already bought & installed new seliniods several months ago.

I'd like to sell it, but who wants a car that falls into nuetral at random. I don't want to sell something I know needs fixed.

I agree, but I don't want to spend any more $$. The car has 250k miles. The engine, body & interior are in great shape.

I don't know that there are any codes as no lights are flashing or CEL.

doesnt have to show a CEL to have codes
if you live anywhere but Ca. go to a parts store and ask for a reading- its free

does your guy have any guesses? Its something wasnt replaced or something
wasnt set at correct clearance
Ask another trans shop what would make it do that
there are a couple of gurus on here when you are allowed to send PM
if they dont answer this first

wait--did he NOT install a new or at least rebuilt torque conertor the first time?
If not I would expect massive amounts of old clutch particulate matter to have gotten into
the new fluid and system,,clogging the tc outlet ports after a certain amount of drive time
