Exclamation Tl Jerk!

hey all. I've noticed a jerk and an "abnormal" noise when chaging gears. The jerk and noise is felt as i shift from: Park to reverse, reverse to neutral, and neutral to d5. Each time i move the selector the car jerks considerably. The jerk and noise heard is similar to engaging reverse or drive on a very steep hill. (which is not the case here) It's almost like the gears are forcfully being engaged and when it does engage the jerk is felt. The ground is dead level, so whats causing this.?

On another note i've driven my car on some occasions and the "d5" blinks, i turn car off and back on again and it stops. I have not the slightest clue what this means and can't find squat in the owners manual.

just do a search on tranny.. its been posted a billion times on this forum already.

youre getting the symptoms of a tranny failure and need to get it checked at the dealer. they'll replace the tranny for you with a refurbished tranny. as long as youre under 100,000 miles.

okay i called the acura owner's link thing, they said that the vin number on my vehicle falls into the transmission recall thing. I purchased this vehicle salvaged from a private sale, howeverl the previous owner had all the service work done at an actual acura dealer, Sunnyside Acura. (i have all workorders/ receipts) I've made contact with the dealer and verified the service work done on my vehicle, it comes back that there was service work done for the transmission.... The dealer stated that the oil jet was installed about a year ago. My question is if my vehicle is salvaged but the oil jet was installed, wouldn't that make me eligible for the 7yr/100k warranty? If the previous owner paid to have this work done wouldn't that override my vehicle being a salvage? I would really like to know if i even have a chance if i were 2 put in a claim for a new transmission. Thanks

Car has about 89,000 miles.

Wow every time a trans question, the assumption is a bad transmission. This symptom refers more to one of the motor/trans mounts. Open the hood and have someone shift the car from reverse and drive and see if the whole engine moves in any direction. If no movement than probably a transmission....

umm, i know that too. but you gotta remember he mentioned the blinking D5 light. there is no way that light will start flashing if its just the motor mounts bouncing around. if its a crackling/clicking/grinding type of noise, its the transmission. if its just a huge clunk and feels like the front end kinda lunges forward, then its the mounts.

TL0032, you shouldnt have a problem taking it to the dealer even if its already been serviced. a tranny could go bad within a few weeks of getting it changed out with another one.

there have been people here that went home after a tranny replacement and it failed on them on the way and had to bring it back to the dealer the next day.

you could also have your transmission replaced infinite amount of times as long as your under 100,000 miles.

Does it matter if its reconstructed? The previous owner had bought the car as a salvage but had everything and i mean everything replaced/serviced through the acura dealer. I have a book of reciepts 2 show work done for the vehicle. He had an oil jet installed in the transmission and paid for it out of his pocket. Would that cover my transmission or just the oil jet? I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with this car. I sunk a good amount of my savings into this car, paying it in full and dont have squat 2 cover a tranny if this one goes. Someone HELP!

like i said before. it doesnt matter. the tranny will always be covered til 100,000. you have to remember, that when they replace the tranny, everything gets replaced with a newly rebuilt tranny. and even if this newly replaced tranny goes bad later on before you reach 100,000 miles, they will replace it again and again.
