Ticking sound.

I have quiet ticking sound in my passenger side wheel well. And it happens whenever I drive.

Im gonna rule out nail or rock in tire since the tire is in perfect shape, also it aint the CV boot cause the wheel well is spotless and the ticking happens all the time no matter which way I drive.

My only possible solution is the fact that my hub centric ring is cracked, but I dont know if that would create any sort of ticking sound.

Im gonna swap centric rings tomorrow to see if the problem is still there, until then, please contribute solutions.

could be inner cv joint too that is not in the wheel well, but is almost in it
but could also be a internally worn cv joint too
or even a wheel bearing

^^Dont think its a bad wheel bearing either, since a bad bearing doesnt equal ticking sound.

Any ideas on if a cracked hub centric ring would cause a ticking sound?

are the lug nuts tight??? if so proably not, also does the steering wheel vibrate, or does the brake pedle vibrate

also just thought of this one make sure the dust shield for the brake is not bent or hitting the rotor especially if it started after the wheel had been just off also a thrown up rock from the tire could have hit it too, but not as likely

Lug nuts are tight

Steering wheel vibrates only when I brake (warped rotors)

Ill check the dust shield but the click sounds like there is a rock suck on the tire.

When I go slow, I hear that for every rotation there is a click.

a high spot on the warped rotor could be touching a high spot on the dust shield every rotation

If it speeds up with your speed, Its either a nail or rock in tire or CV. Ball joints wouldnt make a repetitive tick. Did you really inspect the tire good for a nail? Did you take it off and look? Possible a bearing but unlikely, they usually grind and hum when bad.

there is no nail or rock.

I though CV was only when you turned though?

No.

Off of your description, If it only happens while driving then it has to be something that is rotating like the axle or tire.

Have you check the fender lining for marks? You are pretty low. Could be rubbing against the fender lining

its not the fender lining, it ticks every rotation. So either something is loose or idk.

Im so fucking pissed.

Went to my mechanic for 2nd time ever and I never noticed how fucking expensive those people were. He started off not being able to lift my car since it was so low, but evenyually he got it up. I stood by as he inspected the whole brake assembly, ball joints, cv boot and he also tried spinning the wheels in mid air to see if the ticking was there.

But it wasnt.

He told me that unless I want to pay them more money that I could do the next step in diagnosis, which is to see if the problem was the actual wheel.

So he told me to go home and to switch the two front wheels to see if the ticking switches sides.

I get home and do it and the ticking does in fact switch sides.

So now I have to go to Discount Tires and raise hell because they supposedly "fixed" my bent rim last month and their job was sloppy. They also stole my SSR centercap.

So thanks to all the advice, but it turns out that the problem was just the wheel.

I have that same problem with the ticking when the car is idling but not that noticeable while driving.
