Exclamation Throttle stuck open?

2001 3.2TL
91,000 miles
replaced transmission @ 80,000

Hey, I'm new to the forum so I'm not sure if I should be posting this as a new thread or a response to similar problem, but here is the story of how I lost just a little trust in my Acura this past weekend:

On my way down from school in upstate NY to my girlfriend's place in D.C., I was pulling out of a rest stop and I gunned it from about 20mph to about 80mph to match traffic speed. However, when I let up on the accelerator, I didn't stop accelerating. Thinking the cruise control had somehow latched on, I stomped on the brake. Even with full weight on the brake, I couldn't slow down slower than about 50mph. Eventually, I thought to throw the car into neutral, so I did that and watched the tachometer bob on the red line. Then I turned the car off, while rolling, and re-ignited. I was more confused and disappointed in my car than shaken up.

The car is fine now as far as I can tell, but after reading other threads, I'm guessing I should clean the throttle cable and throttle body. I should also mention that my throttle body cam is broken at the place where the cruise control cable attaches to it. I plan to search junk yards for a replacement cam when I get a chance (since Honda doesn't sell it separately).

Any other suggestions or experiences like this one?

Well most likely its either a dirty TB (easily cleaned), or due to the cam being broke. I wouldnt so much say that i lost trust in the acura though.

Oh and welcome to the forum

Thanks.
Yeah, I'm still a huge fan of my car, but I had just never even thought this kind of thing was possible. My housemate remembers a recall about something like this on WRX's though. I duobt the broken cam has anything to do with it, just because it's only broken at the place where it connects to the cruise control cable, but I have a lot to learn about TB's I'm sure.
