i don't think its the trans cause when i drive it, its very smooth no slip or anything, but ill still check the oil.

Both did. It happened while it was sitting, running at a gas station, not even driving. I turned it off and re-started it and the TCS light was gone, but the Check engine remained until the next day.
mine is on for 3 days now but im not driving it, as soon as it came on i let it on my drive way. i just smelled the oil, it smells a bit burnt but im not sure if its exact that let me go for a drive so this means that my trans is suppose to jurk off right?
I know canuks are KMs- thats why I gave both options- so others can interpret too
If you have over 50,000 MILES- according to my insider tech- thats right on schedule for failure ( referring to gen2 but 04 05 has same trans)
So 100km is in line with that
The fluid should not have a burnt smell!
It may not give any other symptoms- or may shudder on shift into 2-3- or rev and not speed up on full throttle 2nd gear... like getting on freeway, or suddenly stick in 2nd gear
If it does that pull over- shut engine off 30 minutes- restart and should get you home or to the dealer

Did you not read GET THE CODE READ? Drive it to a place that reads codes! Let us know. Dont go sniffing trans fluid or looking at the dip stick, especially when you really dont know what your sniffing or looking for. The TCS comes on for a bunch of things that arent trans related.
fsttyms1 is right - get the codes read. If you're smart, you'll invest $50 in a code reader...then you can have the code on-hand almost instantly.
CEL/TCS came on for me because i broke my O2 sensor.

thx guys and 01tl4tl
I bought a 2000 TL a few years ago with over 100k and the original tranny. I'm at 150k and still on the original tranny. I've drained & replaced the fluid with Honda's fluid every spring and fall, 2x a year. I figure it's cheap "PM" insurance to change our tranny's fluid as there's no filter or cooler that I'm aware of. Also, with the CEL/TCS ....I had those lights come on right before my alternator died, but it's best to get the codes scanned as mentioned previously.
