Strange Idle Issue
Strange Idle Issue
So for the past few weeks I've been having this strange idle issue where I will be driving for 15-20 min and when I park, the idle will be fine at about ~750 RPM for a few moments, but will start dipping to ~640 RPM and the car will start slight shuddering. Sometimes, it'll stay at normal idle RPM and sometimes it will do as stated above
What could it be?
Other issues that might not be related but have also risen since this issue:
I appreciate any advice in regards to this problem!
What could it be?Other issues that might not be related but have also risen since this issue:
- My TL will make a moaning/groaning noise when put in Drive after a cold start
- An audible knocking/tapping noise can be heard sometimes as I accelerate.
- The belt tensioner, idler pulley can cause noise infrequently (bad bearings?)
I appreciate any advice in regards to this problem!

Year... you could be posting in the wrong generation, mileage, and previous maintenance history if any?
How old are the plugs, air filter, etc? Ever had the valves adjustmented?
Start with the basics.
For starters inspect the battery cables for fraying and clean the battery terminal's contacts. Recondition the contact areas so some fresh lead is show.
Air filter/intake in good condition... no vacuum leaks?
Idle
Adjust the idle screw at the throttle body if the car is idling too low.
The power steering pressure sensor may be defective?
Moaning/groaning
If the sound is in the cabin then your Moad Motor and/or linkages are dry and need regreasing/lubricating.
Tapping Sound
If it's coming from the engine then probably needs a valve adjustment?
Pullies
Depending on the mileage you might ned to replace some if not all or use a mechanic's stethoscope to pin point the defective pulley.

I would be inclined to think a dirty IACV and clogged egr passage inside intake manifold are behind the rpm issue,,those are diy cleaning jobs, about 2 hours at a casual pace.
If you think its got a bad ac belt tensioner- it probably does!!!
occasional noise is much worse than you think, and may be source of numerous bad sounds~
Replace as a unit with the new pulley attached to the arm and spring mechanism
Aftermarket part is fine
May need a new ac/alt belt too- inspect wear

Specs:
- 2000 Acura TL
- ~152k Miles now, got the car when it had ~139k miles.
- Rebuilt tranny at ~140k miles.
- Drive belts, timing belt, water pump recently replaced at 151k miles but belt tensioner and idler pulley weren't.
- Oil changed every 3-4k miles using synthetic 10-30w per my dad's suggestion (changed it to 5w-30 this last oil change)

Sorry for the misspelling its Mode motor.
Yes and no lol. Mode Motor is Mode Motor and Air Mix Motor is Air Mix Motor.
There are two, one on each side of the center console. MM is on left side and AMM is on right side. The motors sre about the size of a deck of cards, black in color.
MM controls where the air flows from... top, middle, or bottom.
AMM controls temp... hot, warm, or cold.
Just look under the dash near the center console and you'll see it.
When the grease dry up the motors, linkages, and/or flap-door pivots they make a moaning noise when cycling between the different settings.
These dam motors cost an arm and a leg. $250-$350 each.
Op
I would change the other pullies.
If the car is only dying during turns I would check the power steering pressure switch. That suppose to raise the rpms when turning. The engine will drop in rpm due to the extra drag from the power steering pump.
