SRS, Check Engine Light Won't Turn Off

I had an issue last week with my gauges and windows not working, and after checking the fuses several times, I finally saw where it was blown. I used a spare fuse (a 20) for about a day to hold me over until I bought the right one from the auto store. I now have the correct fuse in it's place, but now the check engine and SRS light won't shut off. For the check engine light, I followed the instructions in the manual by making sure the gas cap was on correctly and driving it around for a few days. Nope, it's still on. Is there a fairly simple explanation to why these 2 lights won't go away? Thanks in advance for any information!!

i had a similar problem when i was doing the fog light mod, i started the car with the accessory fuse pullled and when i put it back in and started the car i had both lights on. Pulled the battery cables to let the check engine light reset and then posted here and the nice people of the board pointed me to this page

http://www.geocities.com/myintegra96/srs.html

and that fixed my srs light problem. I just used some leads of speaker wire so i could see the light while doing what that links says

I went to Advance Auto and had a global OBD II scan done and the returned code was P1705 - Manf. Cont. Transmission. Like I said, it just happened that the check engine and SRS light appeared only after I replaced the fuses for that particular section. My car has been starting, running, and shifting fine. I guess I feel that my car is fine and feel that these lights are on because of a malfunction that took place due to the fuse replacement. However the code has me a bit concerned. I'm just so darned paranoid about the infamous transmission issues that I want to see if anyone in the TL community initially thought the same thing and then ended up having a really major problem hit them like a ton of bricks. Thanks in advance!

The SRS light once lit will not turn off by itself unless you reset it via the SRS diagnostic plug.

Hey, remember that there's also a recall out there for certain cars. Acura will fix the problem under warranty. Mine came on too(SRS light) and I waited till the recall came out and they replaced a sensor in my passenger seat that was all connected to the SRS system. The light hasn't came on since and now I'm driving with my Air Bag system working as it shuts down if the SRS light is on. Hope this helps you, but your code might be something all together different from your SRS light coming on and you working with the fuses, hopefully it's a coicidence.

Good luck...Jeff

Srs

I don't know about your Check engine light, but I have had the SRS light come on and stay on several times. The dealership tells me everytime that the code that comes up is triggered by a cell phone (my daughter's ). The signal from a cell phone will cause that light to come on. The dealer told me that Cell phones in the passenger seat should be kept as far away from the seat as possible, such as the put in the center console under the radio. I have been putting it up on the sun visor. I don't know if this is your problem, but the last time that it happened, the dealer said that it was not the sensor in the seat (there is a recall for it) but that a cell phone turned it on again. They can reset the light but I don't know if they will charge you. I would just tell them you heard about the recall . They may reset it for free like they did for me. I have a pretty good relationship with my dealership, so they reset it for free under the guise of possibly having to fix the sensor.
